Very nice new site, very friendly staff. Easy walk into town along the river. Sanitary blocks excellent. Some pitches small and access for larger vans tight, fortunately it was quiet when we were there so we could choose our pitch. Stayed longer than we intended as lots to see & do, we will visit again.
We only stayed for two nights, but found this a most comfortable and welcoming campsite. Zumaia itself has a fabulous coastline (UNESCO) and the town is friendly and lively.
Do not be put off by the site\'s location amongst industry buildings. Once you are on the site, it really isn\'t a problem and you are high and away from these units. You can walk into town by the river along a very pretty path and those same industrial units are screened off by trees.
The toilet block was excellent with plenty of hot water in good showers and very clean. The restaurant/bar is excellent value for money with friendly staff. We loved this little site and hope to return soon.
Lovely site, friendly staff, clean and spacious facilities and separate play area for children (we have a toddler) which was good. 10 minute walk into town by the river and 15-20mins to the beach. Quiet town but friendly, we got the train (8-10mim walk from site) to San Sebastián which was lovely. Only downside was really steep hill to get into the site - had to walk the bikes up and was a pretty challenging walk! Would definitely stay again, very quiet in March so we had the place pretty much to ourselves.
As we approached the campsite we were dismayed. The approach road passes derelict factories, there was even a burnt out abandoned car! The access road to the campsite is very steep, narrow and has a bend on it but we managed to get our 8m twin axle caravan up without any difficulty. The caravan site is set on a hill with views of the town and surrounding hills. Once on the site the factories are not obtrusive and it is really quite pleasant. The pitches are all with hard standing on one side and grass on the other. They all have electricity and water. The problem is that they are laid out for continental caravans so the grass is on the wrong side for a UK caravan awning. However it wasn\'t busy when we were there so we pitched across 2 pitches so that our awning was on grass and on the correct side. I think it might be possible to get pegs into the handstand though because it was compacted gravel and sand not concrete. The pitches are on terraces. We had a lot of trouble finding a pitch that we could get onto with our large outfit. Our mover had broken whilst we were away. Luckily it wasn\'t busy, in fact we were the only outfit on the campsite so we were able to chose the one area that we could get onto. The pitches do not have any shade. Although the emphasis is on peace and quiet on the site there is a train that goes past regularly which was very noisy and there is a constant hum from the nearby factory. That said the views from the site are lovely. Site security is excellent, a 6 ft high nicely maintained fence surrounds the site and there is number plate recognition on the entry barrier. From the site it\'s a 3 min walk to the river where a tarmacced path and cycle way takes you into town - it\'s a 10 min walk along the river track into Zumaia which is part industrial, part tourist and very lovely. The toilet blocks are modern and clean with showers. There is a nice restaurant on site which seems to attract a local trade of non residents. The site looks new, is well kept and the permanent holiday bungalows are in a separate area at the top end of the site. We stayed 9 nights and loved the area. We would return.
We loved this campsite and stayed 11 days. It\'s a great base for walking East to Zarautz and west to Deba, both walks with fantastic views. We had a wonderful pitch with great views, easy to level for our motorhome and with on pitch water and electric hookup. It\'s an easy and quick walk or cycle ride to Zumaia, which has great beaches, good shops and a variety of restaurants.
On arrival at the campsite location we weren\'t sure if we had the right place as the entrance is up a steep slope complete with switch back, we parked at the bottom, there is plenty of room, and walked up to reception where we were met by Juan-Luis who speaks good English and is friendly. I returned to our motorhome and brought it up, the bottom of the slope has a change in angle, we have a long 9 metre vehicle and the tow bar scraped the road. Once on the site it appears that just about every pitch has a slight angle, easily overcome with levels, every pitch is well maintained with a hard standing on one side and grass to the other, each pitch is separated by plants, the ablutions are fantastic. We had to carry out some repair work to our grey waste outlet and Juan-Luis helped enormously and refused any sort of payment. Overall it\'s a great site and we shall return. On leaving Juan-Luis made a video of the tow bar scraping the road we think this is to present to the local authorities to have the entrance slope lessened.
