The site is hard to find but we just followed signs to the beach - then you can't miss it. Orio is a nice town but take the train to St Sebastián for the real treat - only Euros 5 return. Beach is excellent with good swimming and clean water and sand (lots of it!) Facilities are some of the best I have seen with huge showers and toilets. Reception staff superb. As others have said local restaurant food is OK-ish. We barely noticed noise from the motorway bridge but it is an eyesore - someone in the 80s thought it was a good idea!
A very clean and tidy campsite. Staff were excellent, café was good and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely return.
Excellent campsite, friendly staff, clean facilities & would absolutely go back. Near lovely beach & bar. Town 5 min walk.
Stayed on this campsite for 2 nights before getting ferry home after a month in both Spain and Portugal these were the best showers yet -superb. Good situation with local transport to nearby towns. Short walk into town switch off sat nav as enter town as sends you through medieval streets use campsite signs instead.
Great site for a few days sight seeing. Pulled in with a large outfit, 14 metres long and was ok. Flat pitches, just big enough for 8+ metres caravan and car. no awning space. Facilities and staff excellent. Surroundings blotted out by low cloud for 3 days but when the sun came out it was amazing. Great beach. Huge surf waves but lots of space to people watch. Train to San Sebastian well worth the walk into Orio and also bus into Zarauch from Orio.
Overall, this a very good site with a mixture of touring pitches and bungalows. The location close to a beach and nearby small town (1km) makes it a very convenient stopover for a few days or more. Easy access by rail into San Sebastián - train every 30mins, about €2,60 single and takes about 25 minutes.
The site is level and very well maintained. The showers/toilets are plentiful and excellent. Wifi is free and generally ok, but not 100% reliable. Staff are friendly and speak good english.
There are several cafes/restaurants nearby and the bar next door includes a small shop and bread each morning - also serves nice tapas (pintzos). The beach area has a nice family vibe at the weekend with plenty of locals enjoying the sea front area. The motorway bridge mentioned in several other reviews really isn’t a problem and should not discourage you - you’ll hardly notice it.
Barking dogs are frequently a nuisance on campsites, but animals aren’t allowed on this campsite. That would be perfect, except that there are 2 dogs in a nearby property that, when left outside, can bark incessantly for hours - really annoying! Can’t blame the campsite for anti-social neighbours though.
The site uses some substantial pitch marking posts plus a few stone markers for good measure. Care is needed when manoeuvring as they’re location is not so obvious as trees and access roads are narrow. The trees were severely pruned/pollarded when we visited in early May, but even so, I wouldn’t expect much shade later in the season. Swimming pool not open in early season, but looked good.
Camping Orio is indeed within sight of the motorway but the noise is not intrusive. An easy walk in to the town or to the beach with a magnificent cliff walk. San Sebastián is easy to get to. The site is well maintained and the staff extremely helpful, from recommending a garage to a hairdresser!
This site has good, flat pitches and is very well located for walks to the beach, harbour and coast path. It is an easy, level walk into town and there is a regular and inexpensive bus and train service to San Sebastian and Bilbao. The site staff are especially helpful and the cleaning regime is exceptional. Although we don't personally use the site sanitary facilities (rather use our own) we had a good view of the long facilities block from our pitch and could see the cleaners working from one end to the other continually throughout the day. The only drawback is that some pitches are tricky to access for longer motorhome because of the awkward placing of the pitch marker posts.
Reception staff very friendly & helpful. We were able to choose our own pitch. Very level site. Toilet block was kept exceptionally clean at all times whilst we were there for the three days. Nice large toilet & shower cubicles with plenty of hot water in showers. Washing up sinks, only two with hot water though. We didn't use the restaurant, but it was always busy. Beach or harbour are just a few mins walk. Orio village is just a level mile away with regular buses & trains to Donostia / San Sebastián, well worth a visit.
Stayed here couple of nights. Pitches a bit tight, close & not too long. Ok for our campervan but for longer vehicles could be overhanging pitch. Consequently felt a bit overshadowed by neighbours. But still a decent site. Location about 10 minute pleasant walk from local village of Orio. Driving to site was ok for our smaller van going thru village but again could be tight for longer, larger vehicle. Check your route as there is an alternative to avoid the village one way system. Close to the beach, although did have pool, closed at time of our visit. Toilet/shower facilities very clean (with toilet seats & paper outside cubicles). Just had drink in bar so cannot comment of food, small shop, looked well stocked for basics. A very pleasant stay, thank you. Reception staff spoke good English. Thanks
