This would be an excellent site with just a few tweaks - more hard standing for caravans and motorhomes, the ground does not readily drain from the rain which seems quite frequent. The power is supply is excellent but the placing of electricity boxes is not always helpful. We had to pitch on the part of the site furthest from the lake as the front area was too soft, looked like newly seeded grass, the toilet blocks were closed so finding a pitch that wasn't too muddy and our cables would reach was a challenge. Better internet speed than home and free! The lake is beautiful. We felt the boat to the island was expensive but did climb up to the castle where you have pay entrance to get a view! There is plenty to see around the castle so not too much of a rip off. Vintgar Gorge is a short drive or one stop on the train and well worth a visit.
This is quite a large campsite. We arrived after a lot of rain which meant half the campsite was out of use due to soft ground. You need long electric cables. We enjoyed our stay. The lake is beautiful and Bled is a pretty little town. The castle was ok but only ok.
Campsite spread out along a wooded valley rising up from the western end of lake Bled. Pitches on different levels give it a somewhat jumbled, informal feel, especially at the end furthest from the lake, although actually it is well planned and each pitch is numbered (albeit not very clearly). If rain is expected (we had it in abundance), avoid pitches that look prone to flooding and bogginess. The facilities block we used seemed quite new, and were kept clean, but broken lights in one part of the block were not repaired during our stay. Friendly, helpful reception staff, large restaurant (which we didn't use) and a decent shop at the entrance. The walk around Lake Bled is lovely - approx 4 miles.
A super location. When we arrived it had been raining heavily some time before hence quite a lot of pitches were muddy! A great walk or cycle ride around the lake. Stayed 3 days
Very disappointed as there weren't enough hook up points close enough to the pitches without having to go out & buy another enormous length of cable! All very well saying each pitch had hook up as that's not necessarily true!
Large site going back from Lake Bled. Good sanitary facilities. Restaurant & shop near the entrance overlooking the lake. We ate out one night & it was ok but we've had better. The lake was pretty & there was a small sightseeing train taking you round it. The pitches were a mixture of grass, hard earth & some gravel. We were unfortunate enough to get caught by torrential rain during our stay which probably clouded our judgement because the pitch became waterlogged & muddy. We & other motorhomes struggled to get off it when we left.
Only one night, thankfully. This campsite is ALL ABOUT LOCATION. At the bottom of the lake an easy 6 km walk around the lake and the views different angles of the castle and the island are super. We did it in the rain and it still scored points.
Pros and cons:
It is a HUGE site, but pitches are clearly marked but not huge. Some are in shade. Nether ground is somewhat bumpy and as one of our groups was in a small tents, it took some working out where to put her.
Despite the number of people, it does go quiet at night.
MAJOR MINUS: no hot water for a morning shower, not just not hot, but freezing.
I watched the cleaning staff arrive and clean the showers in less than 10 mins ( hardly thorough) but they ignored the washing up facilties. These were bordering on disgusting. I know it is up to campers to clean up after themselves, but when there are no signs to encourage people and no bins in which to scrape plate waste ... It was horrid. M
As we left I said to the the checkout girl about the lack of hot water and dirty washing up facilities .... She did not want to know; just told me to fill in a form! I suspect they need a lot of forms!
Will NOT be returning
Large camping at other end of lake from Bled Town. Very nice public beach right at the entrance as well as a restaurant, supermarket, and sports facility (basketball, ping pong, volleyball, bike rentals). Note that all of these facilities are not finally per of the campground which has limited internal facilities. Toilets and showers were nice and clean. Only hassle was that, despite having numbered pitches, they were generally not well marked. Overall, though, a very pleasant place to spend a few days. An easy drive or - better - bike ride to Bled Town.
Used a 3 night stay special deal so price great. You don't need a pool you swim in the beautiful lake! Great location easy to walk or cycle round lake to town. Great shop with fresh food. One of the favourite sites of whole trip. Many activities by lakeside if you want - stand up paddling, archery, swan rowing boat. V. clean loos etc even had a camping dishwasher?!?!? Make sure you take the marked path from site up the short steep Katrina for a postcard perfect view. Very relaxing stay, if you pitch right at the back of the site you'll have great mountain views. Lovely!
Lake Bled is a stunning location. This campsite gets quite crowded with rows of caravans and camper vans. We pitched our 7 metre tent at the very back of the site on the open grass area. Only 3 electric boxes up here but they loaned us an extension lead. It was a short walk to sanitary facilities. The showers worked well but tended to send water into the rest of the facility. The middle sanitary block, which was a little further for us to walk, had better designed showers and much more space for drying hair etc. There was even an outside shower for the dog. All facilities were cleaned regularly. The lake is beautiful for a walk and there is plenty to do in the area. Lake Bohinj is well worth the drive as is the city of Ljubljana. The close by and pretty village of Radovljica has a lovely restaurant at Pension Lectar with a dog friendly terrace. Follow the signs for the centre and park on the right before walking into the old part. Fabulous views from this village. We tried the campsite restaurant but found the food rather tasteless and mediocre.
