I have to agree with the pretty negative comments regarding this site, frankly it had little in its favour, though the town is sweet enough and the beach is fantastic. The site is dominated by permanent set ups with the usual rag bag of old tarps., fencing, dead plants etc., and the motor homes are kept to one small area near the fence and along side an outside road, not a busy one, but still close. The waste drop, chemical toilet and bins are very close to hand being right next to these pitches. This does make it feel like an aire. The service block probably was cleaned well, but is in such a state of disrepair, with crumbling brick work, there is not really anything good you can say about it. The staff were pleasant.
Wonderful little campsite with really friendly kind staff. Okay the facilities are basic but the showers were hot and the toilets were clean. 100yds from gate there was bar supermarkets and bus to town. Majority of people were nice portugese folks who were very smiley and welcoming. Amazing food experiences. Definitely going back.
This site was more like an aire than a site. Toilet block smelly and really old. Some of the wash basins were cracked. All together not up to the mark. Could not recommend this site. The beaches were really nice and plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants around all within walking distance. Bus stopped outside the site into aveira which was lovely. Can't believe acsi have recommended this site. I think they need to check it out.
Awful dirty looking site. Permanent caravans very scruffy & unkempt. Touring pitches so small, would be a fire risk.
I don't know how this site is in the ACSI book. It was a disgrace. We arrived at 12 noon and a helpful 'guard' showed us two pitches. One was parking in front of another motorhome the other had more space as there were several trees planted very close together. So we chose the latter. When we returned from a walk we were amazed to see that a camper van had managed to squeeze into the space and a car and a tent. This was right by our motor home awning so when we tied our dog up she could get into the tent!
As stated in previous reviews, the sight was mainly permanent caravans with scruffy, dirty awnings that made it look like a shanty town. There didn't seem to be any allocated parking spaces for these permanent vans so cars were parked randomly on any spot of ground available. it was VERY crowded even in early June. The toilets were very dated. We did see many motor homes parked near the road, very close together, more like an aire rather than a campsite. Needless to say, we only stayed one night!
We visited this site in January 2016. The restaurant and bar were closed. The site was very untidy and mainly occupied by permanent caravans most of which looked like they had been there for far too long making the appearance of the whole site appear extremely shabby. The showers are solar powered so the water wan't hot until late in the day, the shower block appeared dirty and the toilet bins were not emptied. There was a washing machine which we used but the dryer was out of service so we had to sting our washing up to dry outside our motorhome. Very disappointed in this site if we hadn't of pre-paid on arrival we would have left immediately. I would suggest ACSI inspect again and decide whether they are happy to send customers here!
