A very attractive campsite in the middle of the wine area with vineyards on the campsite. Located next to a small airfield but with little disturbance, and a site suitable for longer stays.
Please note: this is the CampingCard ACSI rate for 2019.

June 2018. Very good clean site we had a lakeside pitch, very good clean toilet / shower facilities, helpful staff, nice bar / cafe with beach area, the lake is good for swimming. Good dog walk area and plenty off site walks for dogs. Had booked for 7 nights, then booked in for 3 more nights. Good area for walking and cycling. Will be going back again, hopefully in 2019.
Thankfully we only needed to stay one night as very austere & very few niceties. Small, concrete pitch, but good ehu nearby. Swimming pool very disappointing, an above ground style, very small & without any chairs, full of kids without any consideration for other users. Sited next to the bins! The impression of the pool was that it was installed to gain star rating at minimum expense & thought. Sanitaire of good standard. Overall, an expensive stopover, we arrived late in the day & left early.
a large and busy site that felt a less than welcoming feel - pitches a bit neglected - our arrival was during a wet spell, pitches quite soggy - poor lighting made night-time excursions a challenge - shower block ok but showing its age - the location was one of the attractions of the site but due to some form of traffic issue we were directed away from the town itself - there appears to be plenty of on-site activities for high season
This for us has been a 'must visit' camp site for the past 7 years.
No matter if it is slightly off our route it is always one of the highlights of any trip.
The camp site is well laid out and facilities excellent.
The staff have never yet failed to meet up to expectations, and for us, with our extremely limited grasp of German, always happy to talk to us in English.
The shop is reasonably well stocked with good opening hours.
The picthes are large enough even for us with out 29ft rig , and easily accommodates the vehicle, a trailer and an awning.
The town of Bad Dirkheim is a wondrous place to visit. Even after repeated visits we are STILL finding new places to visit and see even though it is quite small.
There is even plenty of evidence of some rather oldy worldy campers. the Romans !
There is a villa you can visit less than a kilometre from the site, and is free of charge to wander round .They are currently 'sympathetically' rebuiding parts of it as it was when first built
Easy to find without getting lost! The sight fancies itself as a bit of a resort which frankly it's not. However because of that it attracts and encourages a younger clientele which in turn makes it quite noisy. Showers are free and the ablutions are in good order unlike the pitches which are showing the ravages of several summers. The on site shop has a quite varied inventory and serves snacks and breakfast. The 'resort' restaurant offers the usual fare.
Avoid weekends very very large youth groups arrive and they take over. Sanitary facilities were filthy over the weekend. The girls seemed to love gathering there exchanging makeup etc. One receptionist very unhepful when we asked her what the Kurkarte meant. Same one would not allow the ACSI for 30 june, even though i showed her the book. Her reply was ' you're wrong' and walked away. We are elderly and i speak some German but couldn't believe her attitude. I've never been dealt like thisbefore on camping sites all over Europe. I'm still upset by this.
Very large site with lots of permanent pitches; these are on one side of the site, and caravan pitches the other. Good spacious pitches beside a lake. Lovely facilites, which were spotlessly clean. We had to be evacuated early on our first morning, as there was a major fire nearby, and the staff handled this very efficiently. Ideal for visiting Bad Dirkheim and surrounding area. Cycle paths nearby. As the site is so large, you will need a cycle to get to reception and the shop. There is a small airfield next door, but this not a problem. It was interesting to watch all the aircraft taking off and landing.
Arrived on a Friday for a few days mid June 2013. Nice site but all evening a group of 20 or so youths from a german camping holiday company (in rows of blue tents) played loud thumping bass rave/techno music into the early hours. Then resumed at 7.15am the next morning with the same thumping music, already drinking beer and shouting their satisfaction at waking people.
Poorly run site, no quiet time after 10 or 11pm, and seemingly no evening staff prepared to control behaviour. Just a large Knauss run campsite site more concerned with money from group bookings than the rest of us. We cut short our stay and left the next morning with the dozens of other campers concerned this would probably carry on all weekend.
Not going back to any Knauss site in future. Site rated by ACSI as suitable for families, long stays etc. Maybe this needs changing!! (We'll quite happily go to rock concerts but not like this) Be warned.
Loved to visit Bad Dürkheim from this campsite. It's a good time to ride a bike (nice path) or go for a walk (a bit of distance). Lovely town. The campsite is reasonable. Got the feeling it could less, but mainly because of the staff's communication, but maybe it is something that is part of German temperament? :)
