Set in peaceful woodland on the outskirts of Hirschhorn, with a friendly warden. A good starting point for cycling and walking trips along the Neckar or for car trips in the beautiful Odenwald forest. The campsite has a swimming pool with a bar and new toilet facilities. Good train connections to Heidelberg.

The reviews for this site don\'t do it justice, not many recent ones so felt compelled to leave one. First, toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and un limited hot water in powerful showers. The setting is beautiful, we were towards end of season and site was quiet, so we didn\'t use the restaurant but did order fresh bread there every day. Hirsschhorn itself is amazing.. A 20 minute walk into town with à few good restaurants and stunning Castle. My only criticism is lack of WiFi.. The hot spot wasnt strong and it was slow even around the réception area. It would be à huge advantage to the site to rectify this as we rely on it so much nowadays for tourist info and weather etc. However, any queries or problems we had were very helpfully responded to. Heidelberg still easily accessible by bike or car and this end of the Neckar valley is definitely the prettiest
Site very shaded in woods and deep valley so very little sun
Not a nice welcome told no electric heaters allowed and no plastic ground sheets but not in a nice way felt uncomfortable from the start.
We missed the entrance as not very clear and quite tight ended up in the site before we were supposed to be owners not happy and fellow campers in reception very unfriendly, the British with the big caravans go whoosh in the site.
6amp electric again may as well be battery only Asci should make sure price includes electric that can run caravan ,don’t need much but need to boil a kettle and use microwave if required.
Happy to pay for what we use ,easy to put a different fuse in to give choice
To all ,seen this work well in France.
All in all not a nice experience and would never return , out of the way and car required to go anywhere.
A well laid out site with decent siz pitches even for our 7.5 metre motorhome. We were given a choice of 3 different levels of pitch but found the one at the ACSI rate perfectly fine. The sanitary facilities were fine and the showers good. There is a nice pool on site, also a restaurant. The best part for me was the ability to catch the train to Heidelberg get off at Aldstad and you can walk a short distance into the old quarter which is beautiful. Dont miss the railway up to the Schloss and the old cog train to the top above the town, amazing views. All in all thoroughly recommend this site.
We stayed 2 nights at the start of the season so the restaurant wasn't open yet. Campsite was in a nice quiet location, 20 minute walk alongside the river to the nearest town of Hirschhorn. Showers were in a new block, modern, clean and hot, with no additional charges.
The train from Hirschhorn to Heidelberg cost us approx 5 Euro each (around 21 Euros for a 4-person all day ticket). Train took approx. 25 mins to Heidelberg Central but you can get off a few stops earlier at Aldstadt for the castle and the old town. A bus ticket from the centre of Heidelberg is 1.30 Euro each. Get off at Rathaus for the castle. Ticket machines can be switched to English instructions. Insert ticket in machine on bus to validate (stamp) it.
Heidelberg is lovely. Well worth a visit. Our weather was good so it made it all the more enjoyable. Good stopover site with a nice little village nearby. Walk along rhe track to Hirschhorn would be a bit muddy if the weather was wet though.
