We were very pleased with this site. It was well located with a short bike ride into a pretty town with a supermarket very close by. The staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities were very good. We did have a problem with the washing machine which apparently takes 4 hours in an eco wash!! We collected our free bus tickets (normally €9.60 return) from the office and had a very good day in Wurtzburg. We would recommend this site.
We chose this site because there was a free bus into Würzburg according to a fairly recent review. We were disappointed on a number of aspects. The site administration is pathetic. We arrived at about 5:30pm and were shown an unacceptable pitch. Back to the office when we were directed to another that was occupied, though it\'s neighbour was clearly free. Back to the office again and the receptionist, coat on and ready to leave sent us to a third pitch which, luckily, was acceptable and free. By the time I returned to the office it was closed. I can\'t quite the exact amount as cards were not accepted. The \"free\" bus ticket was not available from the office and, each return into Würzburg the bus fare almost triples the site cost! Sanitary facilities were first rate and even had music playing - an unnecessary refinement; road noise intrusive during the day but not apparent at night. Electricity was not metered. The river looks dirty and there is a factory opposite the site. We would not return but would seek a better located site. There was a reasonable children\'s playground.
We only stayed two nights, but really enjoyed our stay. We thought the toilets and showers were ok, but they were well used as the site was very busy. Pitch size was tight but level. Restaurant was available, but we only had a drink there. Good bike paths to neighbouring towns.
Had a 2 night stop here on the way south. About 20 mins from motorway. Reception closes between 1and 3 but there are plenty of pull in places to park up. Right on the river Main. Ochsenfurt is a lovely little town with medieval buildings. It had a good "Norma" supermarket. We travelled in to Wurzburg on the bus using a free ticket we got in reception. Bus stop about 500m from site. Wurzburg a beautiful city, lots of great buildings and shops. Campsite is excellent in all respects. I didn't rate the areas that we didn't have any experience of.
Stayed overnight on way south towards Austria. Had trouble with closed motorway junction to planned halt, so late arriving, after office closed. However I had phoned ahead and was given instructions of how to get through barrier, but on arrival met by very cheerful site man who helped us to find a spot on the overnight area, hence low score for pitch. The pitches for longer stays were much bigger and more pleasant. Very convenient stop en route.
Good campsite, with easy access off the main road with helpful, English speaking owners. It is very convenient for walking (about 20 mins) into either Frickenhaus or Ochsenfart which has a lot more restaurants, bars and shops. Free bus into Wurzburg with tourist ticket from reception for multiple visits. The journey takes about forty minutes as it detours through four local towns. Good sized pitches and some comfort pitches available. Many well kept static units, caravans. There aren't really any riverside pitches for tourers. Good playground for older children situated well away pitches, and an amphitheatre for events. Site popular with passing canoeists to overnight. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in May but only got two nights on ACSI and four at high season rate which proved very expensive. May is a big holiday period in Germany so check the book for ACSI acceptance dates.
Good riverside campsite. Excellent sanitary facilities which were spotlessly clean. Nice pool which was lovely for a dip after a warm day travelling. We only did an overnight stop, so didn't use bar or restaurant, but it looked nice. We were given a choice of pitches, but opted for one of the designated overnight drive in drive out pitches which we haven't seen before, but were excellent for a quick turn around and were slightly cheaper than a standard pitch. The old town of Ochsenfurt was a nice short evening walk away.
Great for an overnight and had we had time we would have stayed longer.
Vi tilbragte 2 nætter på pladsen, som er præget af mange fastliggere. God restaurant og kort afstand til hyggelige Frickenhausen. Gode sanitære forhold.
We only stopped here the one night on on our way to Prague.
We had no reservation but the check in was easy. We went off to choose our pitch then just had to tell them where we was.
The pitches we could have were not very big even for out small van but for short stays they were ok. Maybe for long stays they use bigger ones. We didn't use much of the facilities because it was only a 1 night stopover
The toilets and showers were very clean and free.
