A excellent, well maintained campsite. Lovely location in a river gorge but easy access when approached from Millau. Pitches are a good size and mainly gently sloping grass. Shade is easy to find and privacy between pitches is generally good. It was quiet when we stayed in late June and we were allocated a river side pitch which was lovely (included in ACSI rate), but privacy not so good as other pitches. The sanitation is very good - modern, clean with excellent showers. There is a small cafe/restaurant on site with limited menu. The shop was closed during our stay, but a few essentials could be purchased in reception. You can organise canoe trips starting at locations further upstream from the site. The pool area is excellent, heated to 27c.
There is a wifi hotspot at reception that works ok, but purchasing wifi at the pitch is very expensive.
There is an easily accessible motorhome point, but the same hose is used for the chemical toilet and drinking water - we used one of the many water points on site to fill our water tank instead.
Unfortunately this whole area is blighted by motorcycle noise, particularly at the weekend, this site is no exception.
Today is 14th Sept 2018. According to the ACSI booklet and app this site should be open until 15th Sept. We arrived after driving 200 km to find the place deserted save for a young woman who told us it had been closed for days, the ACSI information was wrong and no, we could not park and have our lunch on the site. Considering it had been our plan to use the site as a starting point for touring the Tarn this came as a blow. To them it was clearly not their problem. Not impressed at all. My “reviews” are therefore irrelevant but this app won’t allow me to proceed without writing something.
Not a lot to add to the previous review other than to state it’s still the same in every respect! Very high standard to everything. Excellent and helpful staff, beautiful location right alongside the river, if it’s quiet try asking for a river front pitch, I did and got one for no extra cost!
Spotless toilets and showers, lashings of hot water, really nice bar/restaurant with reasonable price. The Moules and Frites on a Thursday evening are REALLY good value and very tasty indeed. Bread available daily (order the day before) There are NO shops nearby so stock up in Millau first. The site was very quiet during our stay (late June) Evenings it was just the sound of the water and the birds, blissfully peaceful and relaxing. Probably VERY different in the height of the season though, children’s pool & playground and probably a kids club as well. Also a fair few cabins.
Just one thing, if towing a caravan be sure to access this site from the direction of Millau, you don’t want to be towing a caravan down through the Gorge, it CAN be done but very inadvisable. The Tarn Gorge is something rather special, we did a one hour boat trip (flat bottomed boat with “driver”max 6 per boat) down from La Malene, worth every penny as you go through the very deepest and narrow bit of the Gorge. Once you have done that head up the VERY steep & twisty rd out of La Malene (over the bridge) to the view point at Roc Hourtous (just keep going you will come to the signpost) The viewpoint is RIGHT on the edge of the Gorge and a VERY long way up, the view is simply staggering! there is a small cafe but you can also take a picnic, don’t miss it! Also be sure to do the Millau viaduc, it’s an extra for a car one way if you drive across on the A75 but wow it’s simply awesome ESPECIALLY when viewed from directly below on the D911 There is an excellent (free) visitors centre that’s accessible WITHOUT going through the Peage (you can also get to it off the A75) look for the signs at junct 45
Lovely campsite, fabulous area.
I loved this site. Everywhere was very clean and well cared for and the staff were all incredibly friendly. There are three lovely swimming pools, a normal one, a "spa" type one and a kiddies one, and if that's not enough you can swim in the river which has a large shallow area and also a deep bit. The site will also take you further upriver in a canoe and then drop you off so you can canoe back.
Superb location next to the river, wonderful pool complex, cheerful helpful staff. This site is very well located for exploring the Gorges du Tarn. Millau is 15 mins drive away and lots of lovely little villages dotted around to visit and sample local delicacies. This site is nestled in trees for shade during high season and is very calm and relaxing. Fishermen and canoes in the river makes this a very serene site. As the sun does not come up over the Gorge until nearly 0900 there is no need to rise early for breakfast in the sunshine; its a delight to wait for it.
Once again a very enjoyable stay at this wonderful site the surroundings are perfect & we booked a Kayak to come down the Gorge which was a truly memorable experience, cycling in the area is lovely.... Toilet & shower blocks are very good & kept really clean, staff were very helpfull & friendly , lovely clean swimming pool with great play area for children.
A wonderful site in a fantastic location, all the staff were so friendly and the facilities were very good and very clean, would have no hesitation in recommending this site....wonderfull
Excellent site but very disappointed as we had booked and paid for a specific riverside pitch months in advance (confirmed by email) but arrived to discover that the pitch had been given to a late arrival.
We were given an unsuitable pitch for 4 days before we were able to move onto the reserved pitch. This spoiled our stay.
