A simply delightful site, very peaceful (well it was in September and it was very nearly full to capacity!) and at night its not overly lit. Its a little \'interesting\' to get to, look out for the signs rather than relying on your satnav! Excellent and friendly welcome from English speaking staff. There are a variety of pitches, both in size and the degree of shade. If you have a large outfit then be sure to tell reception when you check in as not all pitches will be suitable. Also its an excellent idea to \'scout out\' the route to your pitch first as the access roads do have some pretty sharp bends, I have a 12m+ car/caravan and it was close in places but I managed OK so its not that bad. Two shower blocks, go for the ones behind the swimming pool, much nicer than the others. Plenty of hot water and if its important to you toilet seats and paper. The site is right by the water but there is a grass bank (sea defence) that blocks the view. Good sized supermarket about 800m, be sure to ask the reception for the pretty route that\'s alongside the water rather than going by road. Lovely area and only about an hour from Cherbourg port but don\'t just think of this as a \'stopover\' site, it, and the area, are far more deserving of your time than that. Would I return? Without a doubt, and for longer than the 3 days we had on this trip.
This is a fantastic Park. We stayed here for the last 5 nights of our 5 week stay in France and it was definitely our favorite. You can walk into St.Vaast with its beautiful Port, shops, Restaurants in 10 minutes. Adjacent to coastal walks/cycle paths. Staff were extremely helpful and toilet and shower facilities were impeccable. We will definitely return in 2020
As other reviewers have commented, all-in-all this is a very good site and I’d happily recommend it.
The nearby town and coastal features are a bonus within easy walking distance.
Sanitation is ok, but shower fixed temperature is erratic and more fine spray than a good soaking.
Pitches are a reasonable size, grass, level and well demarcated by hedging. If you prefer a quiet and peaceful spot, then go towards the rear of the site rather the front which borders a residential road.
Front pitches have some traffic noise and there’s an annoying barking dog in one of the local houses. This area is also close to the sports/playground area and bouncy castle. The site is well maintained and the shop and cafe are very useful offering bread each morning (to order) and very reasonably priced take-away meals. WiFi chargeable after 30mins free daily. I couldn’t find a motorhome point other than one on the adjoining aire which charged for drainage and water which was disappointing.
One of our favourite camp site, coming for Dorset. Perfect start and finish for a relaxed holiday.
We love the location with lots of unspoiled walks and cycling tracks onto the fort, by the sea, or around the actual port, including the sailors chapel and light house
It is 5 minutes walk from St Vaast, a very picturesque and working port, with lots of restaurants to chose from and coffee shops and bars for a coffee and pastry to get into the holiday mood
La Gallouette staff are really friendly and helpful, and the place is quiet, spotlessly clean and well run.The heated poole is great too.
This is one of our favourite campsites in France. We mainly use it on our way home to Ireland, and always stay a few days, as the facilities and location are excellent.
On this occasion we stopped on our first night, due to late arrival of our ferry.
it was on arrival and checking in, that we discovered we had brought last year\'s
This is were I have to give the lady and her team a big big thank you for there help and patience in helping us get a replacement card.
They spent valuable time phoning around stores for stock of the asci books and cards. Eventually we contacted asci, who kindly emailed a replacement. Her son, again, kindly helped me, in printing off the details.
I would highly reccommend this campsite.
5 stars from us. We will be returning, with out doubt on our return journey.
An excellent site from the very friendly welcome at reception, English spoken, to the generous well tended level pitches with electric and water and the very good toilet/shower facilities. The location is superb within easy level walking of the local harbour and other local sights. Restaurants and nice selection of retail premises in the town. 20 minutes from Cherbourg. Would recommend.
Very comfortable campsite; adequate pitches, privacy, friendly, good clean facilities (with toilet seats and paper - thank you) - stayed for 10 days. So easy to walk into St Vaast for shopping, meals and walks around the harbour. Easy cycling and buses available to nearby towns. Beautiful area with much to see and do. Highly recommended.
Stayed late Sep 2018 for 3 nights. Very presentable site, good size pitch, helpful staff, clean shower blocks with hot water (!), nice location for town and coastal walk, new carefour supermarket with nice coffee bar 1km away. One of ACSI’s better sites.
Convenient site for overnight stay before the ferry from Cherbourg.
Flat site, good sized pitches, we had a large caravan and car with room for table and chairs.
Good location for local shops, walks etc
Our only negative comment is that the roads are quite narrow and make manoeuvring round corners difficult. We suggest you walk to your pitch first and find the best route.
We did not use the bar/ swimming area but it looked alright
Having just returned from here after a 2 week stay i can highly recommend this site, the facilities are spotless, the toilet blocks are the cleanest i have ever seen.Situated in st vaast this site offers grass pitches with electric hook up, 2 toilet and showere blocks, a wonderful swimming pool and a basketball court with bouncy castles for the kids. A short walk into st vaast will lead you to a quaint fishing village with a host of shops, the quay is lined with fishing boats which sell fish direct from the boat on the quay. A carrefour supermarket and netto are at the beginning of the village with reasonably priced fuel pumps. This is a great place to stay for a short break, a long break or stopover on the way to cherbourg, the pitches are pretty spacious but the site is rammed with campervans, only saw a couple of tents, a couple of caravans and we had the only trailer tent, on the whole a quiet well laid out site with spotless facilities. The staff are a credit to the site owners.
