A lovely site in pleasant surroundings, spotlessly clean toilets and facilities and helpful staff. My only gripe is the added extras to the Acsi rate of 20.25 Swiss francs per night with tourist tax per person per night and refuse tax per night. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return again however wish that the ACSI book clearly stated these added extras
The setting for this campsite is stunning. Sitting on the plane between hills and mountains on all sides, the site is an easy walk into the lovely town of Meiringen (you can avoid the main road by taking one of the many footpaths). There are numerous walking opportunities in the area and the transport system is good (if a bit confusing to start with!) I spent three nights here and on one day walked to the amazing Reinbach Falls and on the other paid to visit the gorge between Meiringen and Innertkirchen... it was well worth it.
The campsite itself is spotlessly clean and all services are of the highest standard. It wasn't busy when I stayed so plenty of room. There is water and electricity next to the pitch. The tourist tax includes a tourist card but I couldn't find much it could be used for and the rubbish must be disposed of in municipal bags that you pay extra for. A highly recommended site and using Acsi off Peak card it still only works out the same as some of camping and Caravan club sites in Britain.
A delightful campsite. Excellent Toilet facilities, Very well placed for visiting Meiringen and for Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts being the home of the Reichenbach falls and of course meringues.
Good train service to Brienz and Interlaken. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The site has the cleanest toilets we have seen. The reception is only open in the evening however you are encouraged to just find a pitch and come to the reception at 8.00pm. Lovely grass pitches and views to die for. Walk or bike into town and see where Sherlock Holmes died.
Excellent site, well-placed for wlkaing into town. Helpful staff and good price in ACSI discount period. Very clean and well-ordered, and calm.
Beautiful location, good grass pitches, very clean ablutions and friendly cleaning staff.
Dearer than published ACSI rate as they charge extra for rubbish bags and tax.
Reception not very friendly.
Excellent base for mountain walking, Haslital Pass is best value.
Small site with some permanent caravans. Stunning views from site. Flat grass pitches all with a tap & electric. We had choice of pitches.
First class, modern, clean shower/toilet facilities with free hot water. Piped music in toilets.
Backpackers have use of a cooker& microwave and there is a hot drinks machine also.
ONLY fault I could find here was that the push button showers don’t stay on very long.
Chemical disposal point & drain etc for Motor homes.
Reception has very basic supplies. Bread can be ordered for next day & they are happy to accept Euro’s or Swiss Francs. They also have a small bar and snack bar.
Meiringen is about 10 minutes walk away and very popular with tourists. There are two supermarkets and a good choice of bars & restaurants as well as other shops and tourist attractions.
We did find that the whole area had a big problem with flies. There is also a military air base close by so the occasional jet could be heard (and seen).
