The location of this site is wonderful, right on a pristine white sand beach. The restaurant and bar terrace overlooks the bay so is perfect for sundowners or breakfast. The site is fairly old, but the sanitary facilities were all spotless. Pitches were average in size and generally flat.. a few low branches need a careful eye! We found the staff very helpful and friendly. A small village, Louro is just 500 mtr away and the larger town of Muros about 3 km with lots of fine restaurants and shops as well as being a working fishing town.
This was our favourite site of a recent 6 week trip and is top of our list for next year.
Great site. Pitches a little untidy and grass needs trimming but very friendly owners, clean toilets, pitches overlooking a great beach with fantastic views if you are lucky. Rest of pitches slightly set back. Easy walk into Muros but uphill on way back (about 30 mins). Restaurant good. We had a mixed shellfish starter and then a mixed grilled fish main course as a fish special.
Lovely campsite overlooking a very pretty beach. We spotted dolphins one evening which was lovely. Our pitch was on the front, the pitch surface needed to be maintained a little. Quite weedy and dirty! We didn’t eat in the restaurant but had a drink on the terrace and that was pleasant. Would visit again.
Poor water pressure in the showers and could do with squeeges in the showers for cleaning floor. Pitches were small but the views more than made up for it. Restaurant evening menu pricey but menu del di a excellent but watching dolphins swim by was fantastic.
Good location adjacent to lovely sandy beach. Quiet, despite local road bordering the rear of the site. There are a number of pitches bordering the fence overlooking the beach, but quite cramped and none available when we visited. The site is gently sloping and levelling blocks are required on some pitches. Some of the pitches felt a bit soft when we visited so we avoided them just in case. Easy walk into local town (Muros) along coast road. Sanitation blocks are ok with plenty of toilets and showers, but let down by showers which lacked enough force to spray properly and water temperature was not hot enough. Water temperature at the washing up sinks had the same problem.
The site could do with a bit of maintenance, the door on our electrical hook up unit was broken and hanging off, plus a couple of fuse blocks removed and covered with tape! The tap on the nearby water point was also broken off it’s mounting. Grass could also do with a trim. It’s a nice enough site, but with a bit more care and attention this could be a really good site.
What a gem of a camp site. The location is perfect to relax at with plenty of things to do in the area if you wish to. You can catch a bus, walk or cycle and the local taxis are very good value. Supermarkets are plenty in adjacent Muros and on our last day we found a well stocked Spar supermarket in Louro itself up a back street off the beaten track. We have seen lots of dolphins during our 21 night stay only moving on to fit in our other places we wanted to visit. I have never felt so relaxed anywhere before. The views and the beach are perfect and whilst the campsite may initially appear a little scruffy you have to realise your camping on granite which turns to black sand. On the other side all the staff, without exception, were the most friendly and helpful we have probably met. The toilet facilities were cleaned to a very high standard on a regular basis throughout the day it’s just unfortunate many campers are happy to walk the black sand into the showers, which is not necessary. Levelling blocks were needed.
Super friendly guy on reception, as always they speak perfect English which puts my attempts at Spanish to shame - though I do need the practice and he was happy to help. Smallish pitches but a great location for the beach. The bar area and restaurant looked lovely but we didn\'t get to use either so I can\'t comment on those. The facilities were ok, nothing great but serviceable and clean. We love our road cycling and quickly realised that with only one road in and out it wasn\'t going to be a great cycling area for us, though we did see cyclists when we were out and about so perhaps we could have tried it. However, the weather was lovely so we were more than happy to have a few sunbathing days, a walk up and around the Monte Louro in one direction, and a walk to Muros another day in the opposite direction.
Love the position of this site overlooking the beach and it’s a lovely area. This is the second time we have stayed on this site but I really wish they would update the site as the facilities are so old and shabby, it’s such a shame as it could be so much better. Washing up is a nightmare as there are no proper draining boards And the water goes all over the floor.
Great, friendly campsite with two levels one overlooking the beach from each motor home but as a result very popular. Great restaurant and lovely aspect looking out to sea. Cycled to nearest lighthouse where dolphins have been viewed and into muros 10 minute cycle two free museums and interesting old town streets. Great place to stop for refreshment and watch the world go by.
Amazing location right next to a beautiful beach. Friendly staff, good food, free wifi. Lovely view from the terrace keeping a lookout for dolphins swimming past. Easy cycle ride into Muros.
