We enjoyed this site very much, to such an extent that we stayed 2 weeks rather than the one we had been planning.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the facilites are good. We particulaly appreciated the availability to campers of a fridge and freezer in which we were able to store food.
The nearby town on Olot is interesting, with good musesums, and has an excellent market with butchers and fish stalls (no fresh fish on Mondays) amongst others, and a good supermarket, also with excellent fish, on the floor below (other supermarkets are available).
The surrounding area is very interesting, and there are good walks round about in the forests and volcanoes. Just 5 minutes walk from the campsite in the direction away from town, there is a visitor and information centre where an excellent booklet on the local area is available for €1, as well as information on walks. We were using the Sunflower book http://sunflowerbooks.co.uk/product/walking-in-costa-brava/ which we recommended.
This site is also a good centre for visiting Besalu (a must), Sant Pau, and further away Girona and Figueres, both worth a full day visit (we spent half a day in the Dali museum alone).
There are a couple of points we must comment on to provide awareness, not criticism. We arrived midweek in mid June, but there were only 4 pitches available for a tent with electrical connection, as the rest of that area was filled with permanently-pitched caravans, some of which were used at the weekends.
After putting our tent up in very hot weather we were gasping for a beer, but the bar had shut at 17.00! Also food was only to be available in the restuarant at the weekends. Perhaps things change when the high seaseon gets into full swing, but this lack of food and drink is not clear from the ACSI listings - and after all it is an out-of-season card!
The area which is supposed to be for touring caravans is full of static c aravans there were only about 4 pitches for tourers .We were told we could camp on the tent area, however this also had static vans on it and the few space that were available had no electric points available. The main toilet block was ok however after the week end it was shut and a smaller block used with 2 showers and toilets, they were clean but shower ran either red hot or cold.Site very noisy at weekend music and singing to 2 AM
Would not stop here again
For some reason the shower and toilet block smelt uninviting, which seemed like stagnant water under the showers. Great place for visiting Santa Pau and walks to the volcanic region. Lovely maid returned my electric cable the next day.
Excellent campsite right next to national park and walking. Friendly staff and a good price. 4kms from Plot but easy access. Highly recommend staying here.
We visited for 10 days at the beginning of November. The site is busy at weekends but very quiet mid-week. Sanitary facilities are only average, the site seems to concentrate more on its attached restaurant than maintaining the basics of cleanliness. We were sited near the waste disposal area which was unsupervised, with rubbish spreading outside of the designated area. The surrounding countryside is fantastic for walking and visits to Olot, Girona and Banyoles are easy.
Good situation close to the volcanic region and to the town of Olot. Easy access to walks direct from the campsite. Good toilet/shower facilities. Very quiet at night.
