Reception was extremely helpful and friendly and the new toilet block was excellent and very clean. The on site restaurant is popular with locals as well as campers. Sitges is a very pleasant resort and within easy reach of Barcelona (35 mins).
Sitges is a lovely place to visit and we pass through every year. El Garrofer however is only ok for 1 or 2 nights but definitely not up to category 1 standard. Of the 5 showers available only 3 were working and only one sanitary block open and cleaned superficially once a day. The pitches are slightly marked out under tall pine trees and you can choose whichever place you want. A lot of pigeons this year. Maybe they\'ve cut back on the staff because it did seem a little tired and in need of maintenance.
This site is near one of the nicest towns in Spain. The site was under trees, with no grass, but once we found the real toilet facilities, not the weekend ones, it was very enjoyable. It is possible to get the bus to Sitges, and to Barcelona from outside the gate. Beware of the pigeons in the trees, don\'t leave the roof open over the bed.
Regular visitor to this site, staff always excellent and welcoming, toilets and showers clean and with plenty of hot wate. Pitches under pine trees which provide welcome shade, but not so welcome pine resin and needles on the caravan top. Handy for Sitges and Barcelona. Can be noisy during Spanish Holliday\'s although it is always quiet by midnight.
A large, popular campsite with many families, especially Spanish. No privacy between pitches on bare, dusty ground but with good shade. A 40 minute walk into Sitges but a pleasant one mostly along the promenade. Good shower blocks and a good shop and bar area.
Very handy for Sitges. It seemed to me that you pitch wherever you want and in busy times some park to close for comfort. I would recomend the site, even if it is a bit noisy with kids at the week ends.
We spent 10 nights here. The pitches were large and the staff very helpful. The campsite shop was good and there is an excellent range of supermarkets in Vilanova. After 11pm there was no noise.
Our first visit to this site chosen because of easy access to Barcelona. First impressions were good and reception staff extremely helpful. The site has a large number of seasonal pitches and inconsiderate parking made it difficult to access touring pitches. The site is infested with feral cats which foul around the trees to such an extent that the smell prevails in warm weather. BBQ is difficult as you need to stand guard to stop cats taking the food. Eating outside is difficult because of cats and flies. The site is within walking distance of Sitges and the bus to Barcelona stops outside the camp. An hours bus ride to the city.
Arrived on Saturday therefore camp very busy - but by Monday morning very quiet. Staff very helpful and even rang ahead to book our next site. Showers etc good but note of caution to early risers - block not heated until 0800. Barcelona bus stops right outside camp - journey one hour. For motorhome owners suggest pitches at far end of camp these are 10amp supply with grey water disposal and fresh water.
Stayed on this site only to visit Barcelona, arrived on Monday which by all accounts was better than during the weekend as it is very crowded with all the Spanish weekenders.
Were allocated an area at the far end, which was for motorhomes and on gravel, rather like a car park really, glad it wasn't full!
Although the ACSI guide states that WiFi is free, in actual fact there was a charge and it wasn't free at all!! Perhaps a minor thing, but if it says free in the guide then it should be free in practice..
Toiletblock mediocre and not that clean.
Good for getting the bus into Barcelona, it stops outside the gates, cost €2.95 single per person and takes about an hour.
Certainly wouldn't stay on this site for any other reason.
