Very disappointed as this site is a CAT1. The site itself is in need of an upgrade. Nice walk and cycle into Burgos which has a magnificent Cathedral.
Not the nicest of sites but secure and with in range of the port at Santander staff friendly and this site stays open till 23.00 hrs used on my way south from Santander everything you need Burgos is a fantastic town if you have time to explore this, occasion we didn’t
Great stopover. Clean, hot showers, bar and restaurant. Staff in office and restaurant friendly and helpful. Shop on site for essentials. Good walk through park into city to see sights. Recommend
Would recommend this site as s stopover. We stayed one night on the way back to the Bilbao ferry. We walked into Burgos along a pleasant riverside path which took an hour. Cycling would be an easy 20 mins or so. There was also a bus from right outside the campsite, 4 times a day. The Catherdral is a “must see” if you intend to visit the city. The site itself is a little jaded. It could be muddy as all pitches are grassed. The toilet block was somewhat old fashioned but perfectly clean. The water was not exactly hot, but just about OK for a shower. We didn’t use the cafe or bar. Reception staff were helpful and spoke some English. We would use this site again on route.
We have used this site for the last 4 years and sadly it has deteriorated during that time. The pitches are untidy and rough. The washrooms are not up to standard with cracked and missing tiles and a grimy appearance. Shower lock not heated and cold off-season. Most worrying of all are the electrical connection boxes. Ours had a broken cover so that any child could poke their hand inside and.
All in all, there is no way that this site can be classified as a Cat 1. Compared with other Cat 1 sites it is very poor but seems to be on a downward slope. The management seem unaware or not bothered because of lack of competition. Burgos is lovely. The site is not. We will not be returning.
Good stop over site though very busy, restaurant good value. Walk or cycle into Burgos by the river and busy with others plus joggers dog walkers into the evening. Cathedral a great site full of history. Easy drive to Bilbao or several campsites nearby for ferry crossing if preferred.
Excellent entrance and pitches for a 14 metre outfit. Good bus to Burgos right outside entrance. Very popular site kate afternoon and seems to be mainly 1 or 2 nights as most leave the next morning. Good clean toilet blocks.
Great position to cycle into Burgos which is very interesting. Don’t miss the Human Evolution exhibition at the University. Pool is good but a little small. Out of main season we had plenty of room, with no need to book. Site restaurant and bar OK but basic (although great tv for World Cup). Shop does not contain much of use. Showers etc fine but a little dated.
We travelled off-peak season with a caravan and this was a one-night stop. The location was very good and we walked into Burgos and back (40mns each way). Nice green surroundings but sports and pool not applicable. We didn’t eat at the campsite but the shop was fine. The pitches are small and cramped but adequate for overnight. I wouldn’t stay in high season or for more than a couple of nights.
Our second visit to this site. It is very conveniently situated if travelling South from either Santander or Bilbao. The good thing about the site is it's location within the Fuentes Blancas park which provides a lovely walk into Burgos, about 20 mins on foot. Burgos is a great city to visit and the Pinxos are very good. We ate in the campsite restaurant one evening. It was reasonable value but basic food. We had paella, which was generous and well cooked, then I had chicken and my husband lomo (ham) good sized portions but only served with chips. A bottle of wine and bread was included and coffee. The pitches are not well marked out and it was cramped and crowded even out of season. There are not enough water points, we only found one and we weren't sure it was potable water. The showers are clean with plenty of hot water. The pool was closed when we were there.
