You do not pay €20 a night for what this site offers, you pay for the good bus route into the wonderful city of San Sebastian. The pitches offered to ACSI members are probably the worst we have experienced. They are small and uneven. The bar and shop prices were the most expensive we have found in Spain. They have an overspill field (80 pitches)next to the site (same price) which put great strain on the toilet and shower facilities.
A very good base for visiting San Sebastian. The on site bar open in December and very friendly. Very handy bus across the road from campsite to the city every 30mins.
Our initial reaction was very unfavourable: access to the site was confusing, it’s necessary to park in the car park on the opposite side of the road to the campsite entrance but this is not immediately obvious and staff were annoyed that we had not done this. Then we were sent to an area where the pitches are very small, tightly packed and bare earth, most motorhomes had little room to manoeuvre and it felt very cramped. Probably a good idea to check this out before you commit yourself, especially if you have a large unit (5m or more).
However, there is a very good half-hourly bus service throughout the day, seven days a week, to San Sebastián from outside the site entrance which is a big plus (cycling or walking to the city is only for the super fit as it’s a steep narrow twisty road.). And the sanitary facilities are good.
Arrived at the campsite along the road that is not recomended due to sat nav malfunction, they were full so had to go on an overspill pitch, the toilets were 300 yards away, went to bar for a drink in the evening, was ignored and it was not very pleasant, so went back to m.home spaces are small, it seems they are trying to make max. profit with minimum effort, will not return. I don\'t see why ASCI use them.
Long very wet weekend mid September. Big site with terraces on a steep hillside - small pitches (even for our 5m campervan) and very close together. Thus very noisy with a lot of youngsters late-night drinking. Nearest sanitary block closed and in another, showers and toilets a bit dated. Shop, pool, restaurant on site but not used. Good bus service into San Sebastian from outside the site.
How this site rates Cat 1 status I don't know. Very small pitches with narrow roads and caravans parked close to the road as a result, even though specifically asked for a large one for a large caravan when booked. Office staff and security guard very unhelpful and disinterested, the maintenance staff however were excellent. This is a terrible site and we would never stay there again. Wifi coverage poor, restaurant very good, drinks prices expensive for Spain. Should you visit, which I don't recommend, ensure you approach through San Sebastian town and don't follow your sat nav.
Owner tried to get us onto a pitch too small for our van 7.5 metres long.
Gave us the option of 5 other pitches, all very small, some had trees in the middle of the pitch. Roads around the site very narrow and virtually impossible to turn van around corners.
In the end didn't stay. Owner more interested in just cramming vans in.
Contacted site in advance twice to check I could get in on desired dates for 2 nights. I was assured there would be space. However on arrival I was told there was space for only one night. When I told the receptionist I had emailed in advance her reply was that it was not her that emailed me. She wasn't interested in my situation. Terrible customer service. So we went into town that afternoon and promptly left in the morning. Funny though, as the weather had taken a turn for the worse the campsite was nearly empty when we left and I am sure they would be able to accommodate us. The campsite would have been OK. Handy easy to use bus service into town from outside campsite gates. Lady cleaning toilets seemed to take all morning so ended up using ladies loo. Shame, site had potential but because the customer service was appalling I have to give a low rating. First ever Camping Card campsite I used and it was the worst. No soap in ladies toilets and no sink in toilet to wash hands.
The pitch we were allotted was in very poor condition - very soft and muddy. Also very difficult to manoeuvre in and out of with a motorhome. Campsite is on top of a mountain and is not suitable for a cycling visit to San Sebastian. Bus service is excellent however. All other services on site are good but space is a big problem.
Great situation for San Sebastian - beautiful place - bus stop outside site and buses every half hour to town. Had to stay 3 nights to see more of San Sebastian. Get off at funicular for fab views over bay then walk along the prom to port and old town. Great restaurants and shops. Site fine altho new pool closed. Bar staff great, one very dour receptionist!
