We stayed here a week mid May. It was our 2nd visit. We have dogs and that is primarily the reason we stay here as the dog friendly beach is a 5 minute stroll just out of the campsite. There are many restaurants along the esplanade which has an excellent cycle path running alongside for several Kilometres which makes for a very pleasant ride with the mountains in view. The campsite itself needs a bit of getting used to and first impressions ( including ours) can be questionable but we felt at home and found the staff helpful and polite. The showers are great, hot and powerful. Shop only open from 10 til 1 but close by is a well stocked supermarket. For cycle and dog owners this is a good spot.

Pitches were rather dark as many trees, would be ok in summer but trees could have done with pruning by end Oct.
Showers very good

Arrived at the site in March 2016, greeted by an extremely unfriendly senior male member of staff. He seemed only to be able to communicate by grunting. We booked in for one night, handed over our passports, and then went to look at the pitch. On seeing how dreadful the site was (everybody was cheek by jowl on a very small pitch) we decided not to stay, and the said member of staff refused to hand back our passports. After insisting that he returned them, he did so by throwing them back at us in an aggressive manner. The site operated on a one way in, one way out system, and manoeuvering is extremely difficult for larger units. Not a good experience!!

Nice friendly campsite, almost completely in the shade. Close to good beaches and very popular with Spanish families. It was a bit noisy at weekends due to the cafe del mar nightclub nearby. Torre del mar is a nice resort with lots of places to eat and within easy walking distance of the site.

Site well situated close to town. Shady and relaxed. Easy walk or cycle. Shop open but not well stocked. Good swimming pool. Bar and restaurant open. Quiet site. Toilets etc being renovated. Beware sticky yellow flowers falling off trees in late April and impossible to remove from clothes and chairs. Very good free wi-fi.

We stayed here in October and found the facilities very good and the staff helpful. The weather was not kind but the site is well drained and has ample water points and refuse bins. This helps in bad weather. Nicely situated on the beach and walking distance from town centre. Will use again

Our initial reaction to this site was it was like a travellers' camp. The pitches were large but no money has been wasted on landscaping.

The staff were friendly and helpful (especially when we had to move pitch due to an infestation of blackflies)

The ground was very hard, so "tenters" beware, you will need hard ground pegs.

The washing up facilities were 50% cold water only and 50% mixed.

Our first night was a Saturday night and very noisy. My wife asked the Spanish family next door to keep it down at 1.30 and there were young lads driving round in cars blaring loud music well after that. The disco in Torre del Mar could be heard as a bass thump for most of the night.

Laguna Playa was a grey dust beach and it was about 1km to the Paseo Maritimo which was beautiful for an evening stroll.

WiFi is free but restricted to one device per pitch.

There is a pool but you have to take your own chairs as there are no sunbeds

We would have moved on after one night, but had places to visit in the area ( I can recommend Velez-Malaga itself)

My advice is don't bother as I don't know why this is a category one site!

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

We stayed here August 2012 for a week, there was no English people there but all the spanish were very friendly, the toilets showers were cleaned all the time, the pool is small and was over crowded, there was a restaurant but we didn't eat there so can't comment on that, the town is ok, the sites on the beach, would recommend as a stop over site or a quiet place to stay, I would go again if travelling through area

Staying at this campsite 5 weeks in March. Very friendly Staff/Owners, nothing too much trouble. Very refreshing to be made so welcome on a Spanish site. Very clean showers, plenty of hot water all round. Handy for shops/bars. Good walking on front. Would be the only site I would stay at if we return South. Would like to thank Staff and Owners for very pleasant stay. Most of all Pepe is a hard working star. Thank you all.
