Large site going back from Lake Bled. Good sanitary facilities. Restaurant & shop near the entrance overlooking the lake. We ate out one night & it was ok but we've had better. The lake was pretty & there was a small sightseeing train taking you round it. The pitches were a mixture of grass, hard earth & some gravel. We were unfortunate enough to get caught by torrential rain during our stay which probably clouded our judgement because the pitch became waterlogged & muddy. We & other motorhomes struggled to get off it when we left.
Very disappointed as there weren't enough hook up points close enough to the pitches without having to go out & buy another enormous length of cable! All very well saying each pitch had hook up as that's not necessarily true!
Only one night, thankfully. This campsite is ALL ABOUT LOCATION. At the bottom of the lake an easy 6 km walk around the lake and the views different angles of the castle and the island are super. We did it in the rain and it still scored points.
Pros and cons:
It is a HUGE site, but pitches are clearly marked but not huge. Some are in shade. Nether ground is somewhat bumpy and as one of our groups was in a small tents, it took some working out where to put her.
Despite the number of people, it does go quiet at night.
MAJOR MINUS: no hot water for a morning shower, not just not hot, but freezing.
I watched the cleaning staff arrive and clean the showers in less than 10 mins ( hardly thorough) but they ignored the washing up facilties. These were bordering on disgusting. I know it is up to campers to clean up after themselves, but when there are no signs to encourage people and no bins in which to scrape plate waste ... It was horrid. M
As we left I said to the the checkout girl about the lack of hot water and dirty washing up facilities .... She did not want to know; just told me to fill in a form! I suspect they need a lot of forms!
Will NOT be returning
Lovely site, good location. Helpful reception, nice toilet shower block. Easy walk into town along lake. Pleasant walk to complete lake circuit. Good selection of bars and restaurants.
Stayed here in June 18, great location on Lake Bled walk out of the site gate and you are at the lake. Great walking and cycling round the lake. Toilets we used were good another block opening soon will be new. Many pitches very small and tight access to some, pitches at the far end of the site nearly all on grass many very boggy when it rains, entry part of the site now has gravel pitches. Very few drinking water points around the site. Would gladly return providing gravel pitch available
Lake Bled is a stunning location. This campsite gets quite crowded with rows of caravans and camper vans. We pitched our 7 metre tent at the very back of the site on the open grass area. Only 3 electric boxes up here but they loaned us an extension lead. It was a short walk to sanitary facilities. The showers worked well but tended to send water into the rest of the facility. The middle sanitary block, which was a little further for us to walk, had better designed showers and much more space for drying hair etc. There was even an outside shower for the dog. All facilities were cleaned regularly. The lake is beautiful for a walk and there is plenty to do in the area. Lake Bohinj is well worth the drive as is the city of Ljubljana. The close by and pretty village of Radovljica has a lovely restaurant at Pension Lectar with a dog friendly terrace. Follow the signs for the centre and park on the right before walking into the old part. Fabulous views from this village. We tried the campsite restaurant but found the food rather tasteless and mediocre.
Lovely here but don't follow your sat nav, follow the main road! The site has valley views and sits on scenic side of Lake Bled with delightful 30min walk around lakeside in either direction to access Bled. Excellent walks and rides from site itself. Easy to walk to Bled castle and 16k round walk to Vintgar Gorge. Warning- very boggy pitches when we were there!
Loved the location of this site. We had pitch 244 up at the back of the site and as it had rained a lot in previous week it was very dry, also it was close to toilets but you need a extension cable for electrics. Be aware it is almost .5 mile to supermarket and shop all downhill and uphill on way back. Site was busy all the time we were there, very popular place as world rowing competition was happening. It just needed a couple of more toilet/shower blocks to make it 5 star.
Stayed two nights, en route from Croatia. Bled very popular, so traffic through to site very busy. Site also busy, pitches very rutted from previous bad weather although rock solid after a heatwave! Sanitary facilities good but hot water often tepid, didn't matter too much in the heat! Walk round lake lovely and walk from close by up to high viewpoint tough but worthwhile for the view. As said many pitches needed v long cables and some pitches tight for larger outfits.
Beautiful setting and quite handy - hired a rowing boat to go to Bled island near site entrance, as was the tourist train. A 6 km walk takes you round the lake and the gorge is a short cycle ride away, so excellent location with loads to do. Yes the pitches tend to be a little muddy and it's a long stretch to the electric boxes. Supermarket good as was the site restaurant - helpful and friendly waiter!
My only gripe is the addition of a "registration fee". Have noticed this at a couple of sites this year and it looks more like an excuse to bring the headline price within the ACSI scheme whilst still screwing more cash out of campers. Unimpressed!
