camp site Bars too much like burger, fish n chips, karaoke etc.camp shop closed??? No cards at all (except Portuguese bank cards) so have cash. Reception staff miserable. 10 minute walk into Alvor port and old town - lovely. walk to town centre and beach something else 20 mins. Free camping arrangement no pitch allocation vans may be very close. Alvor fortunately really nice though lots of Brit/irish bars. Support the local businesses and you will see the friendliness come good.some class restaurants.
The position is good to get to Alvor, Praia de Rocha and Portimao easy cycle to all. Bar/restaurant ok if you want anything with chips. Toilets clean but dated. No marked pitches so can imagine if busy pretty chaotic but plenty of room in May
Not a bad site, with clean toilets and showers.
The site has no logical layout, yes it’s large enough, but we found it difficult to find a flat pitch for our tent and couldn’t get one with shade.
That said we stayed for over a week and seemed to get use to the local barking dogs.
Good entertainment some evenings, the campsite allows new arrivals with caravans and motorhomes up until midnight. So witnessing idiots turning up well after dark trying to negotiate this steep and poorly lit area is most amusing.
Facilities very clean. Pleasant reception staff. Part of the site is very steep but offers larger wilder pitches. Small pitches on flat ground, in straight lines, are available at the top of the site. Had to leave after two nights due to noise and dust from constant strimming. Quite a few mosquitoes too. Large supermarket almost next door. Town and beach easy walking distance. Reception does not open until 9am so plan ahead if you want an early departure.
Thought we'd found the best campsite in Cadiz. This one topped it!
Great, organized reception. Found a great pitch, 819, up the hill, sun from 0800 until 1800, close to new or refurbished shower block. Plants in a male toilet block! Always clean and pleasant.
Spa on site, good sauna, reasonable prices.
We'll stocked shop.
Close to village, for local bars and restaurants, reasonable prices.
Definitely a favourite.
We stayed here in September , I would not stay here again. Plus side, site is clean and electric is stable, good shop and swimming pool. . Minus. On a very steep hill and very crowded ,staff kept letting motorhomes in late at night, even although it was obvious that there was no more room. Apart from some pitches at the top of the site, which are all occupied by long term residents, the only other place to park is in between trees on ground which would be a quagmire in the wet. Sanitation is clean but very limited and outdated. Long steep walk to shop, café and pool.
Stood here for the second time in two years. This is a Y shaped site past the entrance. The left side runs between statics onto tree covered pitches which can be difficult to reach and have little sunlight. The right side runs down to an open area with rough ground that is open but sheltered. Very badly kept, yet the best part in winter as it is in full sun and will receive wifi. There is a small but excellent, clean toilet block which, incongruously also has two warm pet showers. We really enjoy staying here, close to town and plenty of walking, with good supermarket round the corner. However, we were witness to the site being prepared for more and more mobile homes, there was already less space than 2 years ago, and we were told that there would be little space left for campers. The site always says that space is available, so phoning beforehand is not useful. We hope ACSI will evaluate this site which excellent value.
Agree with comments made by last two people. We stayed for 4 nights and there was a barking dog and sometimes more for hours on end in the evening. They weren't on site so not sure where they were but really annoying . You can catch a in the town to Lagos and Albufeira but get the timetable from the tourist info. Local buses about every 1/2 hour to Portimao. Lots of restaurants and bars in town .
I agreed with the last reviewer - conveniently placed, first impressions not good but once a pitch was found (chocs are a must) we settled down. Sanitary facilities old but plentiful, clean and free hot water, Wifi erratic but can be used. Staff very helpful. Only bar open early April but would return later in year.
Very convenient campsite in walking distance to the town of Alvor. Large supermarket close by. First impressions were a little disappointing as the layout is very higgledy piggedly and the facilities quite dated. However everything worked and lovely pool & pleasant bar area/terrace. There is another campsite much nearer the beach and the same distance from the town but it is more an estacion servico Autocaravannes with just electricity and a water/elsan point though the low price reflects this. Wifi is woeful but fortunately there are a number of bars and restaurants in town with excellent free wifi.
