Chief advantage of this site is the nearby metro connection to central Amsterdam. The pitches are reasonable but you need tokens for hot water in the washing-up area and separate tokens for showers. We had to specifically ask for the free shower tokens we were entitled to under ACSI rules and then we were asked \"do you want them for every day of your stay\". Be warned - there is no facility for hot water in the wash basins.
Good proximity to the Metro and an easy ride into Amsterdam; buy your tickets at reception for ease. Well-grassed pitches and smooth check-in despite this being high season. For a city centre location, the rate was good value; can\'t compare this with rural locations. Where else could you stay in Amsterdam for the same money ?
Great base for visiting Amsterdam. Pitches level and very well maintained. Good drainage so no standing water even after heavy rain. We booked in advance via email and had a quick reply; however we didn\'t get a reply when we tried to contact the site via ACSI contact page. Very limited ACSI periods so expect to pay more than 19 euros. Shower tokens 80 cents each (5 minutes). Quite a busy weekend (Easter) but no issues with noise. Only gripe was not having hot water or soap in bathrooms or toilet block. You have to pay for hot water for dish washing too. A bit odd that they charge for water as wifi was excellent and free.
Checkout is 1200 but you can stay a bit longer for 2 euros per hour. Handy if you\'re on the Rotterdam evening ferry.
Overall I would recommend this site especially if you plan to go into Amsterdam. 48 hour travel pass cost 12.50 euros and was well worth it. Time starts when you first use it and you can buy them at reception. Use on metros, trams and night buses.
Lovely campsite. Had a great week here. Excellent for accessing Amsterdam via the metro. Reception staff very helpful and informative. Site very clean and tidy. Some excellent and very beautiful cycle routes via Weesp and up to coast. Would definitely come here again.
This was an excellent choice for visiting Amsterdam. Easy metro with tickets available from reception. Lovely level pitch, clean facilities, staff were fabulously informative and helpful. Highly recommend.
The location of this campsite could not get better! Only a 5 minute walk to the metro which takes you straight to Central Station (you do not even have to switch trains)! We stayed for a couple of nights in a motorhome and the pitches were nice. The grounds are very nicely maintained, as well, and it seemed the bathrooms were always being cleaned! You can buy museum passes and train tickets right at reception for convenience as well. Would definitely recommend others to stay here.
I should have realized that Gassper Camping was a mistake when I saw the 3 meter high steel gates and the car in the parking lot with no wheels and all the windows smashed.
And then they refused to open the gate but a car behind me opened it and I drove in om my new BMW motorcycle laden with camping equipment, They ran out to stop me as if I was going to do something other than camping.
I paid for a tent site for four days and set up my tent in close proximity to a bunch of other tents.
Two days later I received a message from a relative in Nederland asking me to stay there. When I left a day early the campsite refused to return my money for the extra day siting that I had reserved a place. Well, nowhere on their website does it state that they can keep my money if I leave early!!
I was flabbergasted. They in effect stole money from me without any just cause. In my opinion I call that outright thievery! I was totally stunned. If I had any sense I wouldn’t have left until they paid me.
AVOID THIS CAMPSITE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!
Luckily there are other places that respect camping.
Good luck if you are already there…
lovely stop for our trip into Amsterdam on the Metro that is nearby . pitches are beautiful and well maintained . value for money. nice shop on site.
Was here on a weekend and was not impressed at this site. It is understandable that the weekends are busy and it\'s a convenient location to reach Amsterdam, however the service and noise level was bad in our opinion. The queuing and waiting at the entrance barrier(checking in and out) was very long. We found that the reception process is not very efficient. Lots of waiting around for barriers to open and is a mission to get service from the unfriendly staff. Not impressed with the nickel and diming for everything, showers, hot water for washing up, electric...everything is an extra cost.
We were on a non-electric motor home pitch which was right next to the tents, it was quite noisy (music is allowed until 23:00 according to the site rules). Then we experienced loud music from first thing in the morning. Some tent campers would be speaking loudly right on our pitch which was disruptive. I think the motorhome/caravans should be separate from the tent areas.
Bathrooms are a nightmare as they are very crowded and the cleaning staff is in there at the same time. The facilities are clean, but I don\'t think enough facilities are available for the amount of campers, therefore causing major congestion.
Was not a relaxing site, and was definitely not for us.
Very convenient site Metro close for Amsterdam, bout 25 mins €5 each, had flat battery but young guy in shop had jump leads and helped recruit a guy to jump my car, great service
