We stayed for around 3 weeks in June. The pitch was excellent being fully serviced. Toilet facilities were cleaned daily. Although we didn’t use the heated outdoor pool it was well used by other campers and maintained well. The shop was adequately stocked, providing fresh bread each morning. There is very little English spoken in the area. However office staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. There are organised daily hikes/walks available, booked with the office. Corones is an excellent base to explore South Tyrol. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this site. The only grievance was the restaurant, which was very expensive. A large beer being 3euros 50 and a small beer (half the size) was 3euros. The food was of very poor quality. We tended to eat at a hotel 5 min walk from the site. Both the food and wine was very good and good value for money. Deciphering the menu was a bit of a challenge, but armed with an ipad and using the hotels wifi we managed to order some great meals. There is also a pizzeria opposite the hotel which cooked pizzas of similar quality to the campsite. We will most definitely be returning to Corones.
Overall this is a perfectly good site. Reception staff speak English and were helpful. The shop on site has all the essentials. The restaurant looks good, but we didn’t use it. The pitches are a reasonable size, mostly level with some shade. There isn’t much privacy between most pitches. Shower and toilet blocks are spacious and clean. The pool is heated to a very comfortable temperature, but there were quite a lot of dead flies floating in it. You are not allowed to dry washing outside, but indoor drying facilities are provided - takes forever to get things dry. Free Wi-fi is ok for much of the time, but unreliable when a lot of users are logged in. When we visited in June, the locality was very quiet and many local businesses were closed. Most visitors seemed to be hikers and cyclists enjoying the alpine environment. This area doesn’t really have much of an italian feel and is orientated towards German speaking visitors. This is a good site for a day or two stopover or for outdoor/sporty types seeking hiking and cycling opportunities.
Set in a scenic spot this campsite has excellent facilities. The pitch was a bit small, only just big enough for the caravan, a porch awning and the car. The restaurant serves excellent food. the warden was very helpful.
Nice secluded site in pretty location. We arrive just after the lunchtime closedown along with a few other new arrivals and found the check in process to be rushed and not particularly welcoming. We had to go back to find out information about WiFi and sauna. It felt like we had to extract information rather than it being offered.
Pitch was a good size and had 'comfort' style services.
The pool was clean, well maintained and was heated but the grass around it was untidy and no chairs or loungers were provided, so it felt like a place to just swim rather than an area to relax in.
Toilets/showers were immaculate.
Using Corones as a base for multi-day trips into the nearby mountains made for a brilliant holiday this summer. Brilliant people on top of great facilities (the residence accommodation). A really lovely stay. Local rail and bus links make for easy route into the mountains for walking. Staff at the campsite were more than happy to help with excursions and it was always a pleasure to return to Corones for a refreshing swim, use of the spa and good food at the restaurant.
Strong recommendations for couples who like getting away into the mountains. Great facilities, good access and great people.
