Very clean campsite in lovely wooded surroundings. We could choose our pitch - we didn’t book ahead and plenty of availability. No hedges in between pitches for privacy but not a problem as everyone on site was very friendly.Staff helpful and facilities very clean. Nice to have a pool as we stayed during a heatwave! Really enjoyed our stay and would go again if in the area.
We stayed at this campsite at the end of June for a two night stop on our way home from Italy. It was very busy and the pitches very cramped and close together. We had no choice and a guy on a bike directed us to the pitch and when I commented it was a small pitch he was well... not happy they have no segregation just marked by numbers , everybody is on top of each other. We had a takeaway pizza from the restaurant which was expensive and not that good the following night we walked to a restaurant about 10 mins walk opposite the hotel and that was a lot better The shop was not very well stocked but had fresh rolls in the mornings. The area is very nice for a longer stay but not at this site.
We stayed for around 3 weeks in June. The pitch was excellent being fully serviced. Toilet facilities were cleaned daily. Although we didn’t use the heated outdoor pool it was well used by other campers and maintained well. The shop was adequately stocked, providing fresh bread each morning. There is very little English spoken in the area. However office staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. There are organised daily hikes/walks available, booked with the office. Corones is an excellent base to explore South Tyrol. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this site. The only grievance was the restaurant, which was very expensive. A large beer being 3euros 50 and a small beer (half the size) was 3euros. The food was of very poor quality. We tended to eat at a hotel 5 min walk from the site. Both the food and wine was very good and good value for money. Deciphering the menu was a bit of a challenge, but armed with an ipad and using the hotels wifi we managed to order some great meals. There is also a pizzeria opposite the hotel which cooked pizzas of similar quality to the campsite. We will most definitely be returning to Corones.
Overall this is a perfectly good site. Reception staff speak English and were helpful. The shop on site has all the essentials. The restaurant looks good, but we didn’t use it. The pitches are a reasonable size, mostly level with some shade. There isn’t much privacy between most pitches. Shower and toilet blocks are spacious and clean. The pool is heated to a very comfortable temperature, but there were quite a lot of dead flies floating in it. You are not allowed to dry washing outside, but indoor drying facilities are provided - takes forever to get things dry. Free Wi-fi is ok for much of the time, but unreliable when a lot of users are logged in. When we visited in June, the locality was very quiet and many local businesses were closed. Most visitors seemed to be hikers and cyclists enjoying the alpine environment. This area doesn’t really have much of an italian feel and is orientated towards German speaking visitors. This is a good site for a day or two stopover or for outdoor/sporty types seeking hiking and cycling opportunities.
Set in a scenic spot this campsite has excellent facilities. The pitch was a bit small, only just big enough for the caravan, a porch awning and the car. The restaurant serves excellent food. the warden was very helpful.
