A campsite in a beautiful surrounding. Perfect for swim an discovering Sicily.
We looked at this site and drove away. In the middle of a poor looking housing estate. The site has no facility for a caravan with awning as nothing other than hard standing. Near to town centre but again I challenge the inspectors view.
An interesting site, very good for visiting Catania, with good bus and train connections to Taormina, Syracusa and other places as well as Mount Etna. Very helpful and multilingual staff. Toilets generally clean and tidy. Site bar and restaurant were good.
This is a scruffy and not high standard site. The male toilets had all the seats missing no paper and no handwash. The price said hot showers but despite complaints they never improved from cold. I have no toilet or shower in my van so both important to me. The pitches are relatively flat but unkemp. I drop in dog poo and it took them 2 days to move it due to lack of English spoken. There are cats about the site and some had got into awnings. They also leave their poo everywhere and I had to ask for that to be cleared up. I saw some of the cats spray their sent up awnings and netting and two kittens looked really ill. So keep your kids and pets close. I stayed three days as it takes credit cards unlike others. The wifi is extra after an hour free. There is a bar and ristorante but the lights were on but never anyone in. I don't use them unless the wifi is free.its a good location for Etna and local towns is about it's only positive. Would I go back......NO
Wow - excellent from start to finish. Staff could not do enough to help, multilingual and more than went the extra mile to help us. We had been searching for a new leisure battery throughout Italy but one phone call from reception and we were sorted. Location excellent, able to park by the sea, swim in the lava pools, easy access to shops and town.
Wonderful. Perched a few feet above the sea. Brilliant sea swimming. Very helpful, multilingual, staff. Large supermarket 200m away. Frequent buses into town. Just wondering if we can manage to get back there for a couple of days before leaving Sicily.
As a city site pitch size was good. Toilet facilities require an update, they were clean but are old. Very good information and help from staff for surrounding attractions, where to get buses etc. Access could be hard at times of school pick-up in afternoon as parents park everywhere and block access road and gateway. We had to wait 25 minutes for a car to be moved! Very good for visits to Taormina, Etna train and Syracuse.
Reception was very welcoming and gave us lots of information on the surrounding areas to visit. We had a shady pitch under some trees near the restaurant which was fine as our days were mostly out and about sightseeing. You can access the sea over some rocks and down ladders which was wonderful at the end of a hot day touring, but would not be accessible for anybody with mobility issues. The sanitary facilities were poor, the showers were turned on by pulling a piece of flex wire! The toilets were clean. A restaurant was on site which was busy of an evening, we didn't try it out. Easy access to Catania, Etna and surrounding touristy spots.
Convenient for visiting Etna and Taormina and well signposted which is just as well as driving in Catania is a challenge! We were expecting more up to date facilities - these need replacing as although clean they are far from modern. We were in the shaded section which suited us rather than the gravel section nearer the sea. Good recycling. Very poor motorhome facilities - so difficult to access and on a slope, that we gave up. In order to get to the motorway we found it easier to turn in the nearby supermarket, otherwise you ended up miles up the road in busy villages. Very handy having the entrance and exit straight across the road, rather than having to negotiate difficult turns with cars parked.
