A great little campsite right on the edge of the lake. The pitches are flat and generous with a good mix of sun and shade. As advertised it has few facilities but that suits us. It is an easy walk into the centre of the small town of Maccagno. The ferry which crossed the lake and provides connections to other lakeside towns is less than 15 minutes walk. While there are no child facilities children will be perfectly safe and there is a direct access to a lakeside beach. If in the area we will definitely return.

As mentioned in an earlier review the pitches are quite tight for longer units - we’re just over 7.4m but they are quite well shaded. The sanitary facilities are basic but acceptable - a mixture of squat and non-squat toilets. The showers require jetons from the reception; 1 per person per day usin* ACSI. There is a popular bar on site open all day and a restaurant/pizzeria open in the evenings. There appears to be regular live entertainment at weekends; we stayed on a Friday night when there was some music being* played with more live music scheduled for the Saturday and Sunday evenings. Maybe it’s a “ Monday to Thursday” site if you don’t like the music. Good access for lake swimming and plenty of room for sitting out and taking the sun and stunning views across the lakes and north towards the mountains.

The small area facing the lake is wonderful if you can find a pitch there. The larger part of the site is filled with semi permanent caravans and not easily accessible to large outfits. The facilities for the lakeside area are very basic, toilets of the squat variety and showers token controlled. Don't dawdle because the hot water doesn't last long and is of an unstable temperature. There is one hot tap available for washing dishes. Despite being described somewhere as a quiet site we couldn't get to sleep on the Friday night until 1am as there was a live band and much hilarity at the site's bar just across the way. On the Saturday evening we were treated to a crooner with his keyboard serenading us until midnight then, as on the night before, the departure of the audience, many with an apparent need to perform wheelies on their motorbikes amid much shouting and rattling of chains. The site also has a restaurant/take away which serves the usual pizzas etc. This wouldn't be a bad site for travellers wishing to be entertained, but for us it's a no no.
