Travelling party: Couple

We used this site as a break visiting Pisa, Florence Sienna before going on to Rome. A really good choice. The staff were helpful and friendly and there was directaccess to the beach next to the lake, which although early in the season was refreshing for an afternoon swim. The area was interesting with the local town (Bolsena) as an absolute gem. Cycling round the lake (or parts of it) was pleasant on the west side once you got off the major road.

Nice location with easy walk or cycle into Bolsena. Bolsena old town worth a visit. Grey water dump on side of access lane not great.

Campsite on the edge of the lake and can walk (1.5km) into Bolsena alongside the lake or via the busy main road past Coop supermarket. Informal site, good at reception where bread can be ordered; bar and restaurant on site (but does not accept credit cards); sanitary facilities vary between old and new blocks - toilet seats in new block but no loo paper (below acceptable modern standards). Probably a good site for touring by car but public transport disappointingly not available from Bolsena. Only stayed 2 nights.

Narrow lane to site. Reception is on opposite side of lane from site.
Pitches are mostly very small and roadways narrow. Facilities old but clean. Few water points. Reasonably good waste water and toilet emptying.
Good touring base.
