We have used this site several times while on route to and from Austria. Although booking has to be made by phone, Herr Wolf understands my basic German and speaks good English. He is welcoming and the pitches are of a good size. The site is far enough away from the Autobahn for the noise to be unobtrusive. Toilets and washrooms are a bit dated but thoroughly adequate and clean. There is free tea and coffee. There is no WiFi but this is available at the nearby restaurants. We have tried the Freimuhle Restaurant on a previous stay and found it to be excellent if a little pricey. Would we stay here again? You bet.
Set in a forest location with an eclectic assortment of furnishings. Facilities are somewhat dated but clean and well maintained. Owner is helpful, friendly and speaks good English.
Pros: Good if you have a keen interest in nature as there is lots of wildlife around. I did see a young girl with a little bird stood on her index finger, Mary Poppins style!
Cons: No Wi-fi and cellular data signal is very intermittent, although phone signal was always there. Being surrounded by forest the mornings are quite damp. No food or drink available so ensure you stock up before arriving.
Best welcome ever from owner Siegfried who has obviously put great deal of effort and love into making this campsite what it is. We stayed a couple of days longer than we planned and will probably make it a stopover on the way home. Our pitch was a good size with easy access and was chosen after we had been given a tour of the site in the owners car!
The site also has special provision for over night stays where you don't even need to unhook.
Very quirky, highly recommended site! Used as a stopover but could stay definitely longer. Made very welcome, lovely friendly owner, highly recommended
While the campsite is very rustic there is a nice quality about it and the surrounding area, and Herr Wolf is definitely one of the few Gentlemen left on this planet who own campsites.
His hospitality and welcome is second to none.
We spent 3 nights here this time and will be back again.
But one tip to share....We will be giving the Historic Studentmuhle Restaurant a definite miss next time as the service and food was the worst we have encountered on this tour of Europe.
The owner of this site could not have been more helpful when another site failed to honour a booking and we were left stranded. One phonecall to the site and we knew we had a pitch for a few days. Upon arrival the owner went out of his way to make us welcome. His English was immaculate and he had a lovely sense of humour too - just what we needed after the frustration caused by the other site's incompetence. So a huge thank you and well done for making a very bad day end so well. The meal at the nearby restaurant was lovely with delightful, helpful staff. I have no hesitation in giving Eisenbachtal 10 out of 10!
We stayed one night en route through Germany. This is a very convenient site just off the motorway, but no motorway noise can be heard. Exceptionally friendly owners. We were given the option not to unhitch and stay on a hard standing area, which we did, although looking round at other pitches they seemed spacious and well defined. There are two restaurants within easy walking distance. We did not use them but have heard they are good. The toilets on this site are a bit old, but immaculately kept. Washing up facilities, clothes washing, ironing etc. all available. Looks a good area for longer stays with plenty of walking and cycling. There is an extensive list of things to do shown on the notice board.
Owners seem very keen on nature with many bird boxes/insect boxes around the site, and trails around the adjacent lake with strategically placed chairs. Children's play area looks very good. Would be worthy of a longer stay.
