Travelling party: Seniors

Pitches quite small and felt squashed in. Told which way we had to site the motorhome and someone checked that we complied!! Short walk to Staufen a quaint village. Free train tickets available from reception. We chose to go to Freiburg which was lovely. Motorhome service point a bit fiddly to use. Showers and toilets clean.

Travelling party: Seniors

Some pitches are a bit cramped but owner speaks good English and is helpful. Very convenient for the small but quaint town of Staufen. 10 mins walk to train station with easy connection to main branch line to visit Freiburg. Didn\'t eat at the snack bar or use the small indoor pool (seemed a bit gloomy inside). Convenient location to drive to either Belchen or Schauinsland cable cars.

Travelling party: Couple

Arrived before office closed at midday and received a warm welcome. We were shown to our pitch which was well maintained and good size. EHU easily accessible. After we had set up we found the Motorhome Service Point. It would have been good if this had been explained to us on arrival.
Toilet blocks and shower facilities were clean and well maintained however when showering you had to keep your hand on the button as water would shut off immediately. It is not the easiest way to take a shower!!! Would suggest perhaps upgrading the showers.
There was an indoor swimming pool, which was available but we didn’t use this preferring to use the public swimming pool adjacent to the site and it was much bigger and still free access due to site arrangement. We visited in July so much more pleasant outdoors.
We were given a pass for free bus and train use which was a wonderful gesture but as we were only on the site for 2 days we didn’t make use of.
The on-site shop sold essentials and I believe we could have eaten at the snack bar.
Staufen is only 10/15 minutes walk from the site and is a traditional German town and quite beautiful. There are a number of supermarkets in the locality also. This is a very popular area for tourists so we will probably come back again for a longer stay. Price of pitch not unreasonable given the time of year we visited.
One gripe that I have about this site, which I have also come across on numerous other German and Austrian sites is that they obviously rent out seasonal pitches and some of the caravans and awnings are not that well maintained which tends to impact on the overall ambiance on the site. I guess that is just the way it works in Germany and Austria but it can impact on first impressions.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and will probably return

Very friendly site in a lovely scenic area. Showers/toilets old fashioned but spotlessly clean. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Adjacent to beautiful 50m municipal swimming pool that we had free access to so enjoyed a daily swim. No vehicular access to site between 12.30 -3.00pm which was a bit annoying.

We had a fabulous week here earlier in the season. Reception was very welcoming, all spoke very good english and were very helpful and friendly. Beautiful, well kept site. Shower/toilet and laundry facilities excellent. Good sized pitch. This is a superb site located in a fantastic area. Staufen at 15 minute walk is a lovely town with plenty of shops bars and restaurants. Free buses and trains in and around the Black Forest was a definite bonus. All transport was easily accessible. We will definitely return, but for longer next time.

2nd visit in 3 yrs, everything still as it was, staff very welcoming, site and pitch perfect and sanitary facilities although a little dated with the decor, very clean, warm and everything worked perfectly. plus free parking for the town and a free public transport pass for the Black Forest. Would always recommend and will be visiting again.

stayed here back in 2000 and returned this year staff very helpfull yes they guide you to your pitch but I found that quaint rather than abrupt free bus and rail pass and train .A imbis is on site restricted open hours there was no restaurant

A family run site which is a bit different. It has the free use of the local park and very large swimming pool. There is also free use of the local trains to Friieburg or even Basel. Great base for runs into the Black Forrest.
The staff are friendly but a bit strict however 'put caravan here, not there'. Toilets blocks need refurbishment, middle one the best.I found. Office and gate closed 12.30 to 1500 hrs. Which was a bit of a bad start as we arrived at 12.40hrs in scorching heat. The local village of Staufen is lovely.and worth the walk down by the river.

Travelling party: Young couple

This is a beautiful site, however the guys that work here seem to be very strict on everything from where/how you pitch your set up, and on arrival don't give you any information about the site (i.e. where the waste disposal/water/washrooms etc are.
We felt like 'big brother' was watching us the few nights we stayed there. A bit of an odd atmosphere really. Won't go back.
