A basic campsite in the perfect location. This was an ideal base camp for exploring Lake Annecy and the surrounding areas. Staff were very friendly and the reception area had lots of information about places to visit. The campsite is situated 2 minutes walk from the beautiful lake and is right on the cycle path, which runs the whole way round Lake Annecy. Highly recommend hiring a canoe from the local water sports place and spending a few hours on the lake. There is a local bus that you can catch into Annecy itself, which runs regularly. Supermarket is 20 minute walk away but the campsite had fresh bread every morning and served takeaway food in the evening. The campsite was clean but pitches are small and not well separated but given the fantastic location of the campsite this was not an issue for us. Toilet facilities were well maintained. Don’t forget your own toilet roll; even though the campsite says they provide this, toilet paper wasn’t always available. We stayed 3 nights on the campsite and would highly recommend it due to its fantastic location.
We were very happy with this camp site, the pitches are a good size but close together. We got our large caravan and car side by side but possibly a tight squeeze if we had wanted an awning. That said I think most sites in this area are the same. It’s virtually on the edge of the lake, great for launching a kayak. Large field for playing on, volleyball net. 2 boules pitches. Flat cycle or walk to Annecy. Supermarkets about a mile away.
Staff were lovely and spoke English.
Would definitely stay here again
Nice tree lined site with fast access to lake annecy. Some pitches can see the lake. Well off the main road.
Huge plus is that this site is about as far as possible to get away from the noisy/busy Annecy road so very quiet. Another plus one minute away from the lakeside where you can launch a boat or swim or five minutes from the lakeside beach. Downside are the pitches are very small. We couldn't find the 120 metres ones they say are here so our caravan, awning and car only just fitted on the pitch by placing the car nose to awning. Another two downsides are 5amp electric and motorhomers have to pay to fill their water tanks using the hose. The taps around the site are very slow. The pitches are marked by trees at each corner so shady, level and well cut. The toilet block is clean, the staff friendly and bread is available to order.
Lovely location, easy access to lake and onto cycle path to Annecy. About a 5 mile easy cycle ride to Annecy along a flat cycle patch. Disappointed that no lake view but an easy walk to the lake and picturesque scenery in any case. Pitches reasonable size and separated by trees, low voltage electric. Toilets very strange and didn't like washing the pots just next the to the men's urinal. Chemical toilet point also next to the washing up area, again not particularly hygienic. Chemical toilet point also very basic with just a shower head for cleaning and no flushing facility. Free WiFi at reception and no need to order bread, always a bonus. All being said, we enjoyed our stay and the site is in a good location for visiting Annecy.
We stayed here for 7 nights in June 3014 and felt this was the ideal base for a holiday on Lake Annecy. The other sites are on the wrong side of a busy main road whereas La Solitude is down on the edge of the Lake about half a mile from the road. It doesn’t have a swimming pool but the lake is really clean and you can get to the beach in less than 5 minutes. The pitches are of a medium size but this is compensated for by the amazing views you get of the 1500 to2000 metre mountain tops on the other side of the lake. The sanitary facilities are clean if a bit confusing in their layout, The cycle path to Annecy is about 200m away and you can hire bikes on the site. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area. Make sure you go to the top of Semnoz and walk along the ridge.
St Jorioz is a very pleasant village with plenty of activities and some good restaurants (we went to Lac et Montagne which is a 5 minute walk away). It does excellent pasta, fish and pizza meals. The staff at the tourist information office are very helpful. There are 2 good supermarkets within 5 minutes of the site. The sites name is an accurate reflection of its location.
Second time here in three years was just as we remembered and glad we came back ,very friendly owner and staff ,nothing to much trouble .fresh bakery every day with no need to pre order .swimming in lac Annecy at bottom of campsite.or more beaches less than 5 mins walk .well kept site and clean toilets and showers.cycle track / roller blade /walking 200 metre away goes into Annecy and beyond.will be going back next year.
This is a lovely site, pitch size excellent and close to lake and cycle track. Shopping also close by. Mixed toilet facilities spotless but not sure about passing urinals to access shower and disappointed that there were no toilet seats. In all other aspects this is a very pleasant place to stay.
Very well maintained site. Extremely neat grounds. We visited at the end of May and whilst we were there we had snow. Sadly, as it was so cold so was the shower block. Why are shower blocks so open and exposed to the elements. Having windows in them rather than large areas of nothing is not too much to ask. The water was never very warm either, but they were kept clean. Bread could be ordered at reception the day before.
