We felt very let down by this site and due to poor reception stayed only one night. Arriving at 5.30pm there was no one at reception which displayed opening hours were until 6.30pm. We rang the bell and waited unable to access the site until turned 6.00pm when a car arrived, after calling out "Bonjour" a young girl ambled across with no apology, wrote down cost which had tax added, told us where we could park, when asked for barrier code told us she would open it and it was automatic when leaving, so had we wanted to we couldn't have gone out for the evening. On enquiring about wifi told "hors service" although my tablet revealed it was available for euros a day.The tap on the pitch didn't work, the heating was on in the toilet block, the motion sensor in the toilets failed to work early morning, one shower only gave warm water. The roadway lighting didn't come on so needed a torch. Our neighbours found a note pinned to reception with barrier code when they arrived during office opening hours and no one was there for 2-3hours and the other neighbours had to wait to get in like us. If there were circumstances leading to reception being closed during the advertised opening hours surely an explanatory note and apology could have been given. We had planned on visiting Parthenay after booking in but the time lost and the road directions given for walking in (rather than the path along the river) meant what we saw was disappointing and rushed. We visited the medieval part of the town as we left, never to return to this site that we had looked forward to visiting.
Had 3 nights stay following a very bad experience at our previous site which was flooded out.
Lovely site agree with all previous comments, old town over the hill and down about 4km from site.
Toilets lovely and clean, nice hot showers but only 3 toilets in the block adjacent the entrance and the one toilet seat which disappeared.
Great little site in a small town, local park and very near supermarkets. Good stopover site rather than long term stay.
We really liked this site. The pitch we had was huge. The exotic birds and chickens were fun (and the owners even gave us a freshly laid egg). Pool looked good, but too cold to use. Lovely walk along the lake to the town which is well worth a visit. As we didn't see all the town will certainly return to this site.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.
Excellent We Stayed at this site for one night only as the site was closing for the winter the following day If we had discovered the site earlier we would have stayed longer The owners were very welcoming The site was well kept and the sanitary block WOW was so clean and well laid out There was a lovely public park and indoor swimming pool and town with a large supermarket all within walking distance We will definitely stay there again
Nice size pitch. Spotless modern sanitary block. Site had lots of empty pitches so we chose close to the playground as we had a 7 year old in our party. He was happy with the playground. The electrical posts near our pitch had several damaged sockets - I checked two posts before I found a usable socket. The two young ladies who checked us in seemed bored to be there. The town has a brand new playground and also a big swimming pool which is a 5-10 minute walk from the campsite. There is a Hyper U another 10 mins walk after that. The petrol station at the Hyper U has a low overhang. The old part of the town is beautiful. We would return to this site. The campsite also looks after the wire de service next door which is right on the lake.
We had intended to stay three or four days and ended up staying for two weeks. We had free use of the bikes for our stay and this allowed us to explore the surrounding countryside and nearby villages. We also had free access to the local tennis club courts where we enjoyed playing most afternoons. The town of Parthenay has an old section which is well worth a look.
We had a wet 2 night stay here. A lot of the pitches were waterlogged and those that weren't got very soggy. Modern unisex shower block, very clean. The staff were very helpful but very stretched and the site maintenance was suffering. Wifi was expensive and very slow. Parthenay is a lovely town and well worth a visit. It was a fair distance from the site, not exactly a pleasant stroll for an evening meal. We didn't get to explore the walking possibilities due to the rain.
A very good site for stop over or longer stay. Next to a lake and parkland and an easy walk into the town. Excellent heated shower block. Good size pitches, those at rear of side are away from the possible road noise. Arrival on a Sunday and no one at reception, but note to say open at 15.30 and entry code with available pitches. Manager not on site till 5.30. WIFI charged at 4euro a day, which after staying on 5 other ACSI sites where it was free, must the biggest rip off ever! However, would stay at the site again.
