Not a site we would visit again only because its not great for people with dogs, there is a lane adjacent to the site but it is a cut through for locals so its not good for walking. probably ok for families or no dog people. The lady who met us as we arrived was one of the worst we have come across, most unhelpful and couldn't even be bothered to get off her chair to book us in, too busy reading and smoking. The lady who was in the reception in the morning was really good.
We stopped off here after the recommendation of another couple we met while we were away. In practice is was rather "end of season" with only 3/4 other units on the site and the restaurant and pool were closed. However the welcome was fine and the pitch had electrics, water and drainage on it and was a good size. The facilities were rather dated however they were clean while we were there. Wifi was available near reception however the connection was open. The site itself was lovely.
Coulon was an interesting place (& an easy walk from the site) however it felt even more end of season and many places were actually closed. Market excepted I would not depend on Coulon for shopping. We enjoyed a walk around the canals and the area was interesting enough.
Went for a few days and stayed 11. Superb site right on the River Sevre and Le Marais Poitevein. I was a little apprehensive about mossies what with the water but there were none. Apparently because the water is flowing, all be it - gently they can\'t breed. Facilities are good, with toilet paper. The only down was that the mens showers did not have a rose so the shower was more like a jet wash. A decent enough pool, but spoilt because the steps in were high and there was no handrail which made it awkward for the less mobile. There is restaurant on site open for 5 nights and a pizza van when closed. The food was ok, but very limited choice. Staff excellent and will help out if they can. Nearby Coulon is a small town within walking distance, a bit touristy but ok. The place to go for a guided tour, on water, in the Marais canals. The hire out canoes and can be launched across the road into main river. Get a map from reception and explore, very good-I spent hours in my own canoe watching wildlife.
A very pretty site with a park like setting. Very good welcome. We were actually allocated a pitch because the lady said we had a big van (7m). The pitch was in a group of 4 in a quiet area of the park. We were the third van and the 4th pitch was for us all to park on. A nice touch which left us with lots of room. The bar/restaurant was a bit hit and miss as to when it was open. Good shower/toilets but only one block and a bit of a walk if you are at the far end of the site. Good swimming pool. Just a short walk along the canal to Coulon with bars, restaurants and boat hire if needed. Would use again if in the area.
Lovely site and very friendly family owned and run. pitches were excellent size though the electric was alleged to be 10 amp and we have load monitor on the van which we set to 9 amp, the fridge even being the only item switched on was sounding it's alarm even at 2 in the morning regularly. we were not the only tourers to experience this. WiFi hot spot behind reception or basically it's hit and miss. Toilets and showeres a bit tired but very clean. Pizza van when restaurant is closed and ok. Coulon nearby is very pretty and the food establishments are well worth a visit.
This campsite scores very highly for: location, toilet facilities, emplacement space and availability of WiFi. It is ideally placed for exploring the Marais Poitevin by bike on dedicated cycle-ways, or by car. It is also within walking distance of very good restaurants and cafe/bars. We'll be back!
Stayed here just for the 1 night on the way north, a lovely site without doubt but I felt that there was nothing there. I suppose having a motorhome you are reliant upon waking, the river was very near and one could walk alongside the river into the village of Coupon on the river Sevre. A lovely walk but the village was a disappointment as there was very little there unless I missed a trick!! Boats to hire or be chauffeur driven the choice is yours. Some small café on the banks of the river and the usual ice cream. The site it self is lovely, flat spacious pitches reception staff very welcoming and spoke English exceptionally well. Again given a choice of ACSI pitches that we chose leaving the motorhome at the gate. Number plate recognition to get into site once you are checked in so remember your registration number! Facilities very good and clean, saw the swimming pool but did not use but it looked good, remember those Speedo's no shorts. the site, it is good. Walk into Coulon about 30 minutes.
What a cracking site this is. Plenty of varying sun/shade pitches. Plenty of leccy/water/drainage about. Very peaceful site altogether. The staff are friendly and helpful. Grass is cut and collected seemingly every time a pitch is vacated. The location is great for cycling/walking, and boating, as you want. The local town being maybe half a mile down the road, with good food and drink places.
Two things we found not so good. The pool is quite deep all over. And the restaurant is run by \'Renne\' off \'Allo \'Allo.
You have to prebook meals the day before, (which is not uncommon), but what you get on the day does not necessarily tally with what was booked. \'Renne\' does his best to please, but cannot serve up what they do not have. This is on top of him running about like a headless chicken with wine/bread baskets, whatever, all the while explaining in \'Franglais\' why you cannot have what you ordered. It was comical, but not the best - or cheapest meal i\'ve eaten. All things considered though, we will definitely return.
Spent two periods here in 2012. Three days at start of Sept and three at the end of Sept. Swimming pool was open on first visit and is very acceptable especially as the weather was very warm. All facilities of a very good standard and very pleasant staff. See previous review for more information.
Very helpful pleasant reception staff, restaurant on site which we didn’t use, pizza van on nights restaurant was closed which served excellent pizzas. Close to Coulon, great area for cycling.
