Stayed in September, campsite pitches patchy in places from busy summer months presumably. Nice walking in area. Unfortunately had money stolen from wallet in shower block while there. Staff helped by contacting police who were uninterested.
We had two overnights stops here this time, having stayed here several times before on our journey south (and north on the way home). It is lovely site with friendly and helpful staff, and all you\'d need for a short stay. The washing-up facilities are a bit small, and the light keeps going out (on a time switch), but otherwise it is great.
Beautiful, well run site with very friendly staff. New owners who intend making improvements. The swimming pool needs attention. Otherwise it is one of the nicest sites we have visited. Pretty site with lovely trees. Large pitches. Beautiful area and good cycling between villages.
i thought the staff were very detached and din\'t seem to care. The site was OK but not particularly attractive.
Very well organised site with approachable and friendly team of staff. Some pitches are huge! All look to be flat. Coulon is walkable and well worth a visit. Easy cycling routes starting at the site passing through some beautiful villages. As mentioned by a previous review we also experienced an alarming drop in voltage one day. It wasn\'t sustained and wouldn\'t stop us from visiting this site again but perhaps something to be aware of.
Went for a few days and stayed 11. Superb site right on the River Sevre and Le Marais Poitevein. I was a little apprehensive about mossies what with the water but there were none. Apparently because the water is flowing, all be it - gently they can\'t breed. Facilities are good, with toilet paper. The only down was that the mens showers did not have a rose so the shower was more like a jet wash. A decent enough pool, but spoilt because the steps in were high and there was no handrail which made it awkward for the less mobile. There is restaurant on site open for 5 nights and a pizza van when closed. The food was ok, but very limited choice. Staff excellent and will help out if they can. Nearby Coulon is a small town within walking distance, a bit touristy but ok. The place to go for a guided tour, on water, in the Marais canals. The hire out canoes and can be launched across the road into main river. Get a map from reception and explore, very good-I spent hours in my own canoe watching wildlife.
What a cracking site this is. Plenty of varying sun/shade pitches. Plenty of leccy/water/drainage about. Very peaceful site altogether. The staff are friendly and helpful. Grass is cut and collected seemingly every time a pitch is vacated. The location is great for cycling/walking, and boating, as you want. The local town being maybe half a mile down the road, with good food and drink places.
Two things we found not so good. The pool is quite deep all over. And the restaurant is run by \'Renne\' off \'Allo \'Allo.
You have to prebook meals the day before, (which is not uncommon), but what you get on the day does not necessarily tally with what was booked. \'Renne\' does his best to please, but cannot serve up what they do not have. This is on top of him running about like a headless chicken with wine/bread baskets, whatever, all the while explaining in \'Franglais\' why you cannot have what you ordered. It was comical, but not the best - or cheapest meal i\'ve eaten. All things considered though, we will definitely return.
Very helpful pleasant reception staff, restaurant on site which we didn’t use, pizza van on nights restaurant was closed which served excellent pizzas. Close to Coulon, great area for cycling.
Lovely site and very friendly family owned and run. pitches were excellent size though the electric was alleged to be 10 amp and we have load monitor on the van which we set to 9 amp, the fridge even being the only item switched on was sounding it's alarm even at 2 in the morning regularly. we were not the only tourers to experience this. WiFi hot spot behind reception or basically it's hit and miss. Toilets and showeres a bit tired but very clean. Pizza van when restaurant is closed and ok. Coulon nearby is very pretty and the food establishments are well worth a visit.
Stayed here just for the 1 night on the way north, a lovely site without doubt but I felt that there was nothing there. I suppose having a motorhome you are reliant upon waking, the river was very near and one could walk alongside the river into the village of Coupon on the river Sevre. A lovely walk but the village was a disappointment as there was very little there unless I missed a trick!! Boats to hire or be chauffeur driven the choice is yours. Some small café on the banks of the river and the usual ice cream. The site it self is lovely, flat spacious pitches reception staff very welcoming and spoke English exceptionally well. Again given a choice of ACSI pitches that we chose leaving the motorhome at the gate. Number plate recognition to get into site once you are checked in so remember your registration number! Facilities very good and clean, saw the swimming pool but did not use but it looked good, remember those Speedo's no shorts. the site, it is good. Walk into Coulon about 30 minutes.
