Site located just of the bridge from the mainland. Very easy to find. The reception staff are very friendly and speak good English. We were given a plan of the site and told we could choose a pitch that suited us, we wanted one where we could get a Euro 2016 picture on satellite TV which was no problem. The toilet and showering facilities are spread out on the main route through the site on the face of it look a little disjointed but it works very well indeed. Access to the beach is through gates with a key pad or through the main entrance. A daily market takes place accessed through the far gate of the site and sells fruit and vegetables. On the opposite side of the main road is a \\\"mini U\\\" market that is very competitively priced and sells all that you need to live very comfortably. A short walk into the village reveals a butcher, bread and cakes and a little further on another supermarket. A few bars a bank make up what I considered all you require for a very pleasant stay. The pitches are of a good size many with a sea view, even if you are pitched without a sea view you haven\\\'t got far to walk for one!! Ground cover tends to be a bit sparse but only to be expected this far south.
In short highly recommended site in a wonderful position on a wonderful island. We will definitely return.

Had a very spacious pitch which had a sea view. The shower block was basic but very clean and functional. The bridge crossing to Ile De Re was 16 euros for both ways - the price had doubled in mid June for the busy season. The island has a lot to see and is well served with two large supermarkets about 6 miles away and there are two express ones very close by. Staff also very helpful.

Stayed here in May 2012. The description in the book does not do the site justice as there are many facilities. Showers very good, barbecue areas, very child friendly and a large Aires just outside the main gate for 10 euros per night. Bus into La Rochelle stops a short way from the site entrance and a return ticket was very reasonable. Supermarket across the road, also Boulangaire. Nice little town and on our lovely pitch we watched the sun set each night which was beautiful. A large site with a cycle friendly area around about. Staff were very helpful.

Travelling party: Couple

Having traveled no fewer than 300 miles to get to this site on a wet Wednesday in June, having done my research and making my decision to stay here based on the previous reviews what a disappointment this place turned out to be. This site has only 54 pitches which can be used by motor homes due to the instability of the ground, there are a number of vacant pitches with fantastic views on the site which when enquirer about I am told a booked. You will note by the photos that are on this site are pictures of the surrounding area, that is for a good reason, the pitches are worn out sand soil which are to say the least, the toilet shower blocks which are clean are very dated. The area is lovely, however having intended to stay a week we stayed one night, there are many other sited on this little island I would suggest any other site, and use this as a last resort.

Travelling party: Couple

Excellent site with friendly and helpful staff situated almost on the beachside. Pool is over the road at a sister site but sea swimming is possible when the tide is in. Fantastic for cycling with paths around the Ile de Re or over to La Rochelle. All other facilities were very clean and well kept. Local market and two small supermarkets within walking distance. We could not have wished for more.

The write up on this campsite in the book does not do this site justice. It\'s in a great location next to a lovely shopping area with 2 well stocked supermarkets. The resort has some lovely restaurants in walking distance. The campsite facilities are clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. Its adjacent to a nice beach but Rivedoux Plage Sud is just a short walk away which is lovely. Close to La Rochelle and transport links to the rest of the island. Cycle hire close by. Not a lot of facilities for children but the sister site across the road has a lovely swimming pool. Just remember that swimming shorts are not permitted in France. Would highly recommend this relaxing site.

Travelling party: Seniors

The site was only ok. The pitch was cramped and sandy and I felt squashed in yet half the site was empty. The washing machines are at one end of the site and the tokens are at reception a good ten minute walk away. As for the pool, it\'s on another campsite across a busy road. The bus into La Rochelle is excellent at €5 return, but they do get very busy.
