Great campsite location. Bus 5 minutes walk away for travel in to LA Rochelle. Super market across the road with a lot of other shops . restaurant on site offers simple menu but at a very reasonable price worth staying for the ease of getting around. did not use the car during our 5 nights stray.
First time on this site. Chosen due to its proximity to La Rochelle port. Pitches range from large to small. We could choose and got large sunny pitch. Tried restaurant first lunchtime. Very impressed. Going back tonight as we leave tomorrow. Nice pool. Currently in a tent but site is suitable for motorhomes and caravans due to nearby facilities. Boulangerie that serves breakfast is directly across the road to campsite. Around the corner is the shopping centre which includes a Hyper U. Outside the Hyper U is the bus that runs every 15 mins to the port. €1.30 each way. 15 minutes drive and you are on I’le de Re. Friendly welcoming staff whose English is much better than my French. Would return.
We arrived at the site and had to wait at the barrier which was accessed by a key code to enter, there was not enough room in the car park for us to park so we were also holding up other traffic entering the site, having spoken to the reception staff we were allowed through. Parked outside the reception (not really in a very convenient place as it hampered other visitors going past), we were given a choice of pitches which we inspected on foot before returning to complete the necessary paperwork. We found we were unable to connect to the free WiFi by the restaurant and were told that we could buy a WiFi pass, we weren’t sure how long we were staying so had booked initially for 3 nights we bought the pass and the coverage was very good and reliable. We had a very large pitch but some areas of the site that you drive round to access the pitches have tight bends and also trees that catch the top of your van or bikes on the roof. The mixed sanitaires were always clean with toilet seats & loo paper, very hot water for washing up, an area for hand washing clothes and also washing machines & dryers, there are also some small areas of clothes line to use for drying clothes. The showers however are on a push button and the temper could have been a little higher. Everything is under one roof and there is music piped through which is very pleasant. There is a designated bbq area with chimney stile bbq,s provided to use. The swimming pool is very nice, the indoor part was covered when we were there and was too hot & stuffy (air temp), outside area was very pleasant with sun loungers. Changing rooms, toilets, showers & lockers (you need 1 Euro) all available to use by the pool. We looked for the advertised sauna & jacuzzi Did not eat in the rest so cannot comment on that.
A busy shopping centre in walking distance with plenty of supermarkets and other shops, cycle routes which were not that easy to find but we cycled in to La Rochelle, also drove to the Belvedere restaurant, parked up & cycled over the bridge to I’le de Re, lovely cycle around the island. The toll is 8 euros each way low season for a car but we were told this doubles mid June, free for cyclists.
All in all, a pleasant stay but when you add up the costs including the WiFi and tourist tax, have been on much cheaper sights in nicer surroundings.
We cycled to the site. Arriving midafternoon. The site and facilities where fine, you should be charged the ACSI rate with the card. Very disappointing. We cycle tour and have visited hundreds of campsites in the past 10 years.
This site exceeded our expectations for a city site. Bus service in to La Rochelle was excellent with the bus stop right outside the gate. Concidering there is a very large retail park just across the road the site feels very rural and is quiet day and night. pitches are of a good size, we had one the size of a tennis court. The swimming pool is one of the best we have been in. Site WiFi was suitable for wathing films but was expensive €7 per day. slower free Wifi at the pool bar. (When it was working). We would definitely return.
A good base to visit La Rochelle. Easy access by bus. We also cycled into town but the cycle path stops well short of the centre and you have to use the roads. We got a large corner pitch, which was ideal. Busy commercial centre with a large range of shops including a supermarket, bakery across the road.
This is a just about OK. Although in a busy area was surprisingly quiet. Electrical hook ups were sometimes having to be laid over roads. Toilets, hot water, showers were all just about OK. Pool looked good, but didn't use. Be VERY CAREFUL when you use the entrance car park it is very tight and the actual site entrance is set a long way forward so you have to be fully straight on to get in. You may, like us, have to go out of the site go round the roundabout and re-enter.
I felt things were a little disorganised, perhaps because it was the first year of ACSI and they weren't expecting so many units.
A great site for visiting La Rochelle, bus stop outside the gate and straight there.
Didn't use the swimming pool but it looked very nice.
Not motorhome friendly. Had to leave camp to empty waste and collect water. Signs saying no facilities for motorhome a although website says there are facilities specific for MH. staff not happy in there job, not just on arrival but throughout stay. Not impressed. Worst site we have stayed at.
