Site ok although only 2 toilets were open in October. Small supermarket in the village with shops and tourist information. Flat walking, interesting fishing and great area for oysters. We found it easy to get the bus into Rochefort although return buses are not very frequent.
Fantastic location close to the causeway to the isle de Madame, large pitches with nice planting. The sanitaires were very basic but clean and the water hot. Bread van visits every morning can't comment on other facilities as due to time of year they weren't open. Only criticism is that the wifi was very expensive.
Very nicely located site with a short walk to the coast and local shops. Downside for us was the toilet facilities which were OK, but only just! They need upgrading, which would make this site a high scorer. Others may find the toilets/ showers acceptable.
We would stay again but only for short stays.
Another of those "We'll just stay for a couple of nights" sites that stretched into ten days and could have been longer. Quiet low-season Sunday night to Friday when the weekenders descend but the rest of the time it is wonderful. Lovely walks along the sea wall, coastal parkland areas and out on the low-tide causeway to Ile de Maman. Facilities are consistently very clean if dated. This is a very big site with touring pitches scattered so you can be together with others or separated as suits you. Pitches are, in some cases, huge with partial hedging and mature trees, daily (except Tuesdays) bread van at 09:00, and a gentle walk into the town with two mini-supermarkets, patisserie/boulanger and stalls selling the unavoidable oysters - this must be huitre central.
We loved the site and wil probably return but just one word of caution, the office closes promptly at 12 and entry for new arrivals is not possible until exactly 2pm - limited space to wait outside particularly at weekends. A lovely site!
We only stayed one night as we were en route & it was out of season. The welcome was very pleasant and friendly and there was a good choice of pitches with both shady & sunny available. If the toilet facilities were not modern they were definitely cleaner than some sites we've stayed in. The small town was basically closed at this time of year. The big plus here is location. A very short distance from the water's edge and very quiet we did like it here. If you are lucky enough to get a sunset anything like one we did you'll understand why we will probably be back on this site again some day.
This is a very nice municipal campsite. It's located at the end of a small peninsula, in a lovely, quiet seaside village. Ille madam can be reached by a walkway at low tide, it's a beautiful place to visit, with stunning views. We liked the pool here, there's plenty of loungers and an attendant who keeps everyone safe. The beach is nice for sunbathing and swimming, it's 5 minutes walk from the site. There's a pizza restaurant and bar on the site and a snack bar by the pool, but this was closed while we were there.
Rochefort is a short drive away, it's a lovely old town. We also visited the old fort of Bruage, a fascinating place, with lovely cafés and craft shops. We also made some day trips to the Ille d'oleron, with its lovely beaches.
The one downside, we felt, was the toilet facilities on site. There are some good facilities at the front. And back of the site, but the ones in the middle need upgrading.
There was plenty of activities organised for children and adults.
