Stayed for a week on way back from Spain. Pitches were ok apart from when it rained very hard we were under water. Nice shop and very nice staff. The owners let us use there workshop to repair a Dutch mans caravan. We would recommend this nice site
Lovely site with good facilities, close to a few shops and restaurants. A walk into the town gives many shops and restaurants/ bars. The markets are worth visiting.
This site is now firmly on our “must visit” list, I did an extensive review a while back now, nothing has changed! Still a wonderfully relaxing site to stay on, really friendly staff, all the facilities are excellent. If anyone is thinking of starting a campsite they should visit this one to see just how well it can be done. I cannot praise it enough!! Maybe I shouldn’t though just in case there isn’t any room for me next time??
Very nice site with trees and shrubs. Excellent toilet facilities. Lovely swimming pool. The restaurant looked good though we didn’t use it. Reception staff very friendly and spoke excellent English. Having read the reviews we pre booked, just as well as they were turning people away when we got there.
Stayed here for 6 nights in june and it has got to have one of the friendliest welcomes ever, friendly and helpful, although very busy we were offered a choice of pitches both in and out of shade. facilities were very good with shower block and toilets clean and airy. Lovely area with a nice walk along beach into Chatalaillon Plage with it bi weekly market numerous shops and great seafront walk and restaurants.
If you want to explore further afield there are numerous towns and villages within easy reach including La Rochelle which is well worth a visit. To sum up Great Site, Lovely people and in a nice area.
A delightful site run by a friendly and exceedingly helpful family (who speak perfect English) There are a variety of pitches both in size and the amount of shade provided, they are all grass (kept short) and are edged by immaculate trees or shrubs. Access roads straight and pitches clearly labelled. Toilet facilities (plenty of showers and toilets) all spacious and spotless with plenty of REALLY hot water, my only concern is that the washing up facilities might be stretched a bit at busy times as there are just 6 sinks (plenty of hot water though)
Fabulous heated outdoor pool (28 deg in mid May) surrounded by large tiled area with plenty of sun loungers. Children's play area with slides etc
Large purpose built motorhome service point with central drain so easy to dump grey waste, small shop on site with the essentials such as bread. The bar wasn't open during our stay but, like everything else was immaculately clean.
Barrier access that's closed to traffic at night.
Easy (flat) access into the town and it's simply vast sandy beach, one end very popular with kite surfers. The tide goes out for what seems miles! The harbourfront is currently undergoing serious (and expensive!) refurbishment and will doubtless be delightful when completed.
Easy access to cycle routes and likewise easy car access to Ile De Re (toll which doubles mid June -Sept) and Ile D'Oleron
All in all a delightful campsite that the owners have put a huge amount of work into as it was virtually destroyed in the storms of 2010,
I do not hesitate to recommend it as a simply delightful site to stay on, its well worth it!
Lovely campsite in a good location for walking or cycling. Beaches are lovely. Staff extremely friendly and helpful
Travelling in a motorhome, easy to find, good access & spacious pitches. Very friendly reception from all staff, pool is lovely, we ate in the restaurant & food was good. You can cycle to Chatelaillon along the promenade (pedestrians have priority) which is much more pleasant than cycling on the road which is narrow & busy in places. High season rate (no ACSI card discount) is rather high per night. Excellent daily market (fresh produce) in Chatelaillon. Would come here again.
Arrived by chance before fully opened for the high season, but everything was absolutely first class, the weather was perfect as was the swimming pool and campsite, we stayed a few more days, our batteries well and truly recharged. Will definitely return.
Our party was of two couples. We booked in advance, one pair had motor-home and one pair caravan and towcar and we wanted neighboring pitches if possible. Staff were very friendly, excellent English speaking and had reserved us two adjoining pitches and guided us to them. Toilet block was the best on our trip, light airy and extremely clean. The bar seemed well stocked and although we did not eat on site, there was a snack menu available. The office had free reading books in various languages for swapping. The weather was unfortunately not good for sunbathing but there were facilities for this around the pool which was warm and a reasonable size. The walk to town was a fair way and bikes might have been a better option, however the walk is easy and flat along a path by the shoreline. I would have liked the site to have a motorhome waste water emptying point however, there is a free, easily accessible municiple one on the way to town also with free fresh water. Would definitely use again
