This is a nice friendly site less than 2 hours from Calais, The showers and toilets are well maintained, 2 swimming pools. the onsite takeaway and restaurant are both of a good standard, and the surrounding area is good for shopping all in all a very nice week was had here.
We went at the end of the season but the site was still good, excellent swimming pools, the bar and restaurant were quite good, and the surrounding area was very enjoyable.
We stayed here towards the end of their season, and though we love this site for its location, it desperately needs better up keeping. Hedges and grass need cutting on a regular basis and the moles were invading the pitches. Staff were nice, and the pools are good. Toilet and shower block is clean but water not as hot as I would like. They also have a very good tennis court and a nearby fishing lake.
Even though you have to use their card to buy drinks and food, any money you put on it is refunded when you leave. There are 3 supermarkets a short cycle away (2 mile) as is the town of St Vallery Sur Somme.
Experienced staff could make this site 5* as it has a lot going for it.
A quite busy and large campsite which obviously caters for families and children in a comprehensive way. Having said this, this didn't reduce our enjoyment of satying at Drancourt. The staff were superb and made our stay very nice as we had a minor vehicle problem at the time which they did all they could to help. But it was disappointing that they had closed down one toilet block for end of season even though camping numbers where still quite high. These over-work facilities just weren't kept clean enough and up to expectations for a Les Castels site.
This is a nice campsite but it is not worth 4* as it fails on the basic things, gents showers are cold. Not resolved during our stay. Good size pitches for our TA and access not too bad.
From 1 Sept, for ACSI users, toilets were made unisex. A large part of the grounds were closed to caravanners for a wedding, which had a disco which kept us awake until 5.00 in the morning. The last week they closed the toilets serving our area but left them unlocked and uncleaned for us when we queried this. Other people used them and washed their dog in the bathroom, leaving paw prints, toilet paper on the floor, waste bin with discarded pizzas and food containers for a week. They decided not to put others in our area and for the last week we had no others to chat with, share experiences etc. which is part of the holiday. The Restaurant, take away, bar, shop etc all closed. Only small pool open. Wifi only available within 3 metres of closed bar, not good for autumn weather. They acknowledged that they had let us down and reduced our charge, but we would rather have had four star facilities than a miserable one star they provided. We feel that they discriminate against ACSI users.
An easy site to find, well marked out pitches and staff were very helpful. This is an area we will return too as there was so much to see.
I was very disappointed that the site didn’t look as well maintained as it had on previous visits. On arrival we were allocated a pitch which require the grass cutting, it was in the shade and a good walk from the toilet block and campsite facilities, this even though there was a large number of better pitches empty. We were told that in order to use the shop, bar or restaurant we would have to buy a camp cash card as these facilities did not take money. As we were only stopping one night we did not used any of the camp facilities.
Very disappointed with this site and would certainly not rate it as 4 star. There were no serviced sites and the electricity plug was so far away our very long lead only just reached. The water taps were contained in small brick built structures which would only just hold our water carrier, in addition it had a one brick high lip so the full water carrier had to be lifted over it. Although dogs are allowed at this site it is not 'dog friendly'. The only place to walk them was off site and not very nice at all. They were not allowed in the bar, and there were no tables outside to sit at. The bar was badly stocked which would be understandable later on in the season but not mid September. Likewise the takeaway menu, all that was left was pizza or sausages and chips. On our last day we were due to leave at 8 am. Having pre ordered our bread, I asked when the bread would be available and was told 8 am, it hadn't arrived by 8.10am when we left. We didn't use the pool so cant comment.

* Amenities in bold are not included in the overnight price, unless it is an amenity that is included as standard in the CampingCard ACSI rate. For instance, one dog is included in the rate (if dogs are permitted in general), but it is likely you will need to pay extra for a second or third dog. One hot shower per person per night is included, but you may have to pay for a second hot shower. This does not imply that all amenities not in bold are free! Some may need to be paid for.
