Sadly this site didn't really work for us. On the plus side the facilities were ok and kept well cleaned with decent hot water in the showers and basins. However oddly the water in the washing up sinks never got above tepid. The pitches were unloved and the site felt the same. Despite the fact that ACSI says that the card is ok as ID I had to supply additional ID. We had to pay a deposit for access but were not given any form of key (it was returned as we left).
There is a very nice beach 5 mins ish walk from the site however Tranche itself is probably a 20 minute walk (<10 on a bike) with not all that much to recommend it. We moved on.
Spent four nights here and enjoyed them all. The shower/toilet facilities were perfect, the pitches were of a good size, clearly marked out and easily accessible. Excellent value at ACSI rates, with the beach a reasonable walk away and cycle hire available. My only warning would be not to get a pitch near the bar unless you intend getting involved in the evening entertainment, which goes on till midnight. Out on the perimeter it's merely background noise, but closer to the bar and it would be deafening!
Stayed for two weeks Aug 2012 with caravan, pitch was big. Only gripe was that we couldn't get satelitte through the tree line but was in good sunny position. No probs with triping elec and had water and waste disposal.
Was opposite statics which wasn't a problem.
Toilets and showers were great clean and had music on all time. Pool was great apart from 'Capt Backflip' a young lad who thought it was fun to jump in splashing everyone, until he was strongly advised re the error of his ways.
Bar/club ok but not good for teenagers; ok for younger ones.
Free bus into nearby town was great; ran several times throughout day/evening just make sure you get on right one as walk back at midnight after few red wines is longer than you think.
Beaches nearby are great, clean, safe and lots of parking. Camp shop not that well stocked but 2 x Super Us within 5 mins far cheaper . British run pub in town was good but bit pricey . Overall very nice and would go again.
Just come back from 2 weeks at camping Du Jard. We had a fabulous time. Pitches were spacious, and located on the perimeter of the site with static caravans in the main site. It was absolutely fine though, it wasn't a problem. Toilets were very clean, and they are unisex but it wasn't a problem again, the showers were lovely and hot. The pool was great, good tennis court, play area. Cycling is fabulous, flat and plenty of cylcle paths. You can cycle into La Tranche on cycle path on the sea front. Great for children. Beach is a good 10-15 mins walk but the best beach was La Terriere Plage, a 10 min drive, it's worth hopping in the car. Oh yes and a big Super U 5min car drive. We would definately go again, very helpful staff.
