Very well maintained campsite with pleasant owners. First class toilet facilities and kept scrupulously clean. Town easy to walk to, but only one bar.
Good walks from the site on very quiet roads if you turn right outside entrance. Go to the park and town by turning left from the site, follow the lane down and over the bridge. Small downside there is a sewage works on the far bank. No smells of anything, but for some strange reason all the trees on the far bank were cut down. You wouldn\'t know if was there other wise.
First stay at this site. Stopped off after reading other reviews and was not disappointed. The owners do speak some English. There are standard and grand comfort size pitches which were the same cost for Acsi. There is one main facility block in the middle of the site which is kept spotless. Very hot water, toilet paper and toilet seats in place. Free wifi at the restaurant and reception areas. Pitches are flat, with high hedging for privacy and some are very shady. The pool was open twice and the information from reception stated that it is only open in July and August, which we were unhappy about as stayed there for 4 nights, so it would appear that the pool is open only when the owners feel like it during out of season times. The town of Doue-La-Fontaine is 20 mins by cycle, about 5 mins by car and the are 3 supermarkets there and a zoo. Saumur is approximately 20 miles away and there is a lot to see there, including the Chateau. The site is just off the main road with easy access for caravans and motor homes and the site has some pitches without electricity for tents and those inclined not to use it. We would definitely stay here again.
Visited beginning September, current owners have only had this site one month, very impressed with the cleanliness of the toilet block especially the size of the showers. Think probably previous owner let the site get rather overgrown, untidy, but no doubt the young couple who have it know will address these things given time.
Would recommend, would return
What a lovely campsite, have just returned from a 12 night stay and this was our first visit, were very pleased with the site having chosen it by random and researching other people's comments. The toilet block is immaculate with large cubicles and plenty of washing up and laundry sinks, the showers had plenty of free hot water and were very spacious. Considering it was August and high season the site was still peaceful and suitable for families with children of any age, our 17 year old loved having the wifi available, so it was like home from home - she was able to talk with her friends online and only came back when her laptop died! The pool is lovely and was large enough to never be crowded and the bar was nice to have too. We ate a couple of times there and enjoyed some of the evening entertainment but if this is not your thing then it didn't matter as the noise levels are kept low and the bar is not too close to the pitches - all is quiet by 11pm. Can't wait to return!
This a very friendly site, they make you feel like nothing is a bother. Good spacious pitches all are close to the toilet block. Toilet block was always clean and well maintained, showers are large and lots of hot water. Bar with restaurant that serves good food (however limited menu). They also have goats and chickens for children to pet. Bread delivered daily. Would recommend this site and would return.
