Beautiful location. Not convinced that the grass pitches will support a motorhome after a period of rain.
Fantastic surroundings, the host works very hard to keep the grounds in pristine condition and is very jolly with it. The sanitaires are the best we have come across in France, spacious shower cubicles with hot water, toilet paper, hand washing sink with soap and a drier. Cannot find anything to complain about, a walk to the lake is a must and a meal in the cafe on site is recommended
This site is small piece of heaven in beautiful surrounding scenery. As you approach along the Vallée d'Azun there are glimpses of snow capped peaks surrounding alpine style valleys. The site has large pitches in informal arrangements along with an array of a variety of 'mobile homes' in natural settings. The reception and bar area are comfortable and sociable. There is a small shop with local fresh produce and a range of basic requirements. The washing facilities are excellent and kept in nice clean condition.
If you want a chill out in peace and quiet then it is a perfect campsite. If you want to walk or cycle the cols and valleys it is ideally situated. If you want to get out and explore by car it is perfect. The 'boss' and her husband are excellent hosts! Thank you V&H!
A wonder campsite with views to die for 'real smokey mountains!' Go to sleep with the sound of cow bells in the distance. Excellent phone coverage with an aerial only 500m away! Free wifi in the main block and pay wifi through the site. The restaurant is excellent and with a fine selection of wines. Very fine toilet block with clothes washing & drying machines. A sauna & jacuzzi awaits us this afternoon!
In terms of aesthetics, this is one of the most beautiful campings within an idyllic location. A very friendly welcome by Monsieur who takes the greatest care of the camping as his own garden. However, the management has two faces, and when faced with problems we did not feel much compassion from Madame who does the business side of things here. The showers were merely warm, and we kindly asked if they could be made hotter. While she agreed to do this (though nothing changed), she made very clear to us that others (her brother, the other campers) did not find it a problem. Only upon checking out prematurely (why pay for a camping if the showers aren't warm enough, especially when it's cold outside?) did she mention they tried to put the temperature higher but the system didn't allow it. It's nice they tried, but it's better to tell us this instead of making us feel as if we have ridiculous expectations - surely after 4 months of travelling we know what hot water is at campsites. A similar feeling we got when the laundry turned out dirty from the washing machine. I suggested it's probably the machine's fault, as I had carefully checked all the pockets in advance and the stains looked like calcium (very hard water!), but Madame insisted it looks like paper, and that she has the same problem with her childen. Excuse me, how old do you think I am? I noted it is definitely not paper, and she came to check the machine - don't even try to have small talk at this stage, she will just ignore you. Fair enough, she gave us a free token for another laundry, but the same problem occurred. I did not bother to tell her after the initial confrontation, and - surprisingly for a camping owner - she did not ask whether it was clean after the second round. Only at the checkout did we discuss this and it was clear that she still thought it was our fault, rather than apologising and simply thoroughly cleaning the washing machine. I felt distrusted at this campsite, and this was enough reason for us to leave earlier than planned. Shame, as the croissants were excellent! But then...there aren't even toilet seats...
We love this site, scenery, quite, friendly, dog friendly, a good starting point for walks and rides. Toilet facilities are excellent as is washing and washing up,area. The little shop,is well stocked. Bar meals are great and pizza are fantastic. Special evenings are also special. Will always go back to this one every year.
FABULOUS! We stayed for three nights and cannot find one single word of criticism and look forward to returning.
We loved this site so much last year we decided to return! It's just as idyllic as we remembered - same friendly owners, same high standards and same beautiful scenery. If you want a small, quality, friendly site high in the Pyrenees you must come here - it really is a gem.
This is a treasure in camping terms. To awake and breakfast outside, under the shadow of the mountains, breathing the crisp clean air is a memorable event. The staff are wonderful, warm and friendly, offering support and advice on what to do. The events they organise are worth a mention - especially the wine tasting!
Stayed here for 9 nights in June 2013 following recommendations from members of a well-known caravanning club! We were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful, toilet and shower facilities clean (unisex) and there is also a small restaurant on site which offers a limited take-away service. The small shop stocking local produce is a gem. We will definitely return here if planning another visit to the area - the scenery is wonderful.
