Whilst not on the river like most sites in this area the site is set high with terraces that allow great views from all pitches. The pitches are all level and well maintained although some are not over large. Access is good but quite steep with a sharp bend part way up, it would be a challenge getting a big outfit into position. The owners who are 100% hands-on really make your stay special - one of the very few sites that we would seek out again in the future. Being able to watch soaring Vultures (from the adjoining Jonte Gorge) was especially exciting

Excellent campsite with spectacular views. As it is run by a Dutch couple, you do at times feel you are camping in Holland and not France. In reality Holland does not have the weather or the views we are experiencing at Camping Papillon. Excellent facilities and extremely easy to get to, despite comments to the contrary. Slight downside is at times it is difficult to escape the direct sun. A high class problem, solved by a large gin & tonic with plenty of ice!!

This little site is superbly placed for visiting the Gorge du Tarn. There are several other sites nearby but none would have the stunning views that Papillon does. Neither would they have Hans and Annette! They run the place by themselves and keep it and the facilities inmaculate. Hans has a great sense of humour - luckily Annette is very sensible! We stayed 10 nights during the heatwave that was June in France this year. Our only problem was the lack of shade - but it's difficult to have shade AND fabulous views. Yes, all the other campers were Dutch, and yes, you do have to pay in cash, and yes, you can hear trains in the far distance. On the positive side all the Netherlanders speak excellent English, there are ATMs around and the trains are not intrusive. Life's a compromise - enjoy the scenery!! Brilliant stay. Thank you Hans and Annette. Let's hope you get a few more Brits to stay - but not too many!

A very well run Dutch site. Wonderful views from all pitches. Disappointed the restaurant was only open on certain nights. Would love to stay again and would consider it for an overnight ear of longer stop.
