We stayed here for 3 nights in June. One advice: make sure that you follow the instructions in the ACSI book about how to get to the campsite. It is surrounded by lots of narrow roads! It is a bit remote but there\'s a nice village nearby with (a diminishing amount of) shops and the surroundings are great for cycling and walking. Unfortunately no telephone reception at all and only one spot for (paid!) WiFi. Good, big pitches; lovely views towards lake and big house; wasn\'t too fond of the wandering pooing ducks and chicken though. New sanitaire with impressive looking big showers but regularly cold or not adjustable, spraying in the wrong direction and one shelf but no hooks. Clean. Didn\'t use the swimming pool this time (too cold and wet) but know from past experience that it is very nice. Small campsite shop with bread in the morning and very nice Cider jam. And nice restaurant!

Lovely outlook and location. The site has a wonderful history and is run by the same family that has owned the estate for 3 generations. The location remote but well worth the drive and it will stay in our memories for a long time.

We chose to stay here because of the location in Normandy and it was part of the Castels chain.
Location
The site is located in the heart of the Pays d’Auge and a mile or two from the beautiful village of Blangy le Chateau. The seaside resorts of Deauville and Trouville sur Mer are about a 30 minute drive away and Lisieux and Pont l’Eveque are about 8 miles away. There are many walking and cycling routes in the area and you can get routes from the local tourist office in Blangy. A visit to Honfleur is a must but then again there are dozens of lovely villages nearby.
Reception
There was a warm welcome from the reception staff. We were allowed to select out own pitch and then guided along the access road. We were also provided with a lot of information about the area.
Pitches
The pitches are marked and most quite large. We could easily get our caravan with awning and car onto the pitch with probably enough room for a couple of tents. Grounds maintenance does not seem to be a priority. When we arrived it looked as if the grass had not been cut for a few weeks, if at all. The overall impression was of an unkempt site.
Sanitary Facilities
One of the reasons for choosing this site was because it was a member of the Castels chain. They usually have high standards. However, the toilet block behind us was one of three and the oldest. It was way past a refit. Most of the lights in the washrooms didn’t work. The cleaner gave the floors a quick wipe with a mop but the floors were pretty dirty especially behind the doors and in the corners. Many of the taps needed replacing. My wife and I used the other toilet blocks. Which were more modern but once again the standard of cleaning was poor. You tried your best not to let your towel or shower sponge drop onto the floor.
Shop
There is a small shop selling the basics including fresh baguettes and pastries every morning.
Pools
There is a medium heated swimming pool which was ok and well used on hot days.
Eating
During the day in high season there is a cafe which serves hot and cold drinks and snacks.
The restaurant opens at 6pm and serves good quality if predictable food eg steak and chips, pizzas, salads etc.
WiFi and Phone
Free wifi access around the café area. Very slow as it is used a lot.
No mobile signal.
Animations
There were some activities for children but they were very low key. Twice a week they have a musicians evening which is very entertaining. In addition the house band campers are also invited to bring their instruments and perform and they do. Some of them were very good.
Other Stuff
There’s a large children’s playground plus football and volley ball areas.
Summary
If caravan club sites are akin to army camps eg lots of rules and regulations, standard height for grass, caravan must be sited with the peg on the right blah blah blah. Then this site is a bit like a commune. It is very laid back. Hence the lack of attention to grounds maintenance and sanitary facilities. We will not return to this site. Camping Columbier just a few miles away looked much better.
Having said that, it was apparent that many people return year after year. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It has got something. I’m just not sure that I get it.

My wife and I arrived at Castle Camping Le Brevedent on a motorcycle in June 2013 and we were met with a warm welcome and shown to our very nice mobile home, clean and roomy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We found this the perfect spot in glorious countryside to explore the Normandy beaches on our motorbike and the site was nice and even and firm so motorbike friendly especially as we could park the bike right next to the tent. We were impressed by the restaurant food quality and service and in addition to the a la carte menu they did a special \"camping\" set menu, 3 courses for 16 euros and quote good choices. The small atmospheric bar in the main house was a welcome haven in the evenings to wind up the day but we were delighted when the talented staff provided impromptu singing and music. Very good facilities recommend you explore the woods and look for the unexpected statue of Madonna built in secret after the war to give thanks for the Chateau not being destroyed.

Returned to this site after several years, and I was not disappointed. Well run site, friendly staff and a good restraunt, what more could you ask for.

Lovely camp site with large grass pitches for caravans. Stayed only on night as weather was wet. The lake and the chateau are beautiful. Nice swimming pool. Very friendly staff in the office and shop .Good value.

Very nice campsite and nice heated pool. Intend to come back.
Disappointed that staff couldn't provide us with more information when on Sunday the campsite was surrounded by a car race which made leaving the site very difficult.
Toilet and shower facilities: nice hot water; our block was a bit old but the biggest problem was that nothing has been cleaned during our 3-night stay!

Kortom fantastische camping.

In mid-August, the site was inevitably crowded, but the pitches are reasonably spacious and I didn't feel cramped. Good facilities, and very helpful staff. I used the site as an overnight stop, but it would make a good base for a longer stay.
