We stayed on this Castels site for a week with our caravan. We had a pitch looking inland over vinyards and not one of the coastal ones. Some of the pitches are tricky to get into. We unhitched our caravan and used the mover. The staff are very helpful. The swimming pool is lovely. Sunloungers with cushions are available for use. Life guard on duty. The beaches are stony but the bay is lovely. There is a good path to walk and cycle on off the beaten track to the stunning town of Collioure. The coast roads south are very windy but the views are lovely. Would recommend this site.
I don’t understand why this site is so highly rated. The location is nice enough, but pitches on the coastal side are cramped with little privacy or shade. Access to many of the pitches is tight and on some using an awning would be impossible. The pebble beach is virtually non-existent at high tide. When we stayed in mid June, I was expecting the ACSI rate, but they were charging a lot more! I wish I’d read the small print about validity dates and gone somewhere else from the outset. Food in the restaurant and items in the shop were similarly expensive. Wifi available but an extra cost a day! Showers were variable, some ok ones and others offering a tepid dribble at best. Rubbish bins are few and far between, and recycling requires a long hike to the front gate. The swimming pool is nice but tiny given the numbers of people on site including lots of bungalows. The motor point is awkward to use, particularly if the car park is full and others are waiting. We were planning a longer stay, but instead stayed just long enough to visit Collioure (a delightful place reached by the coastal path - tricky in places) and moved on. I wouldn’t pay a premium to stay here, it’s not that special.
We came when the campsite was quiet and were lucky to get nice view. Toilet facilities are good (with seats and paper)
Restaurant looked a bit boring with English fish and chips on the menu. Well stocked shop. Normal price is expensive.
Large, very popular site, terraced, overlooking sea - spectacular when the “Tramontane” wind blows! Steep steps give access to two small beach areas. Huge beach at Argelès just to north, bike or walk if you are fit!
Good for walking or cycling. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Small shop with surprisingly wide range of groceries. Been before, would go again.
Absolutely stunning location. Second time of visiting.
Still such an excellent site. Our pitch was a little on the small side but the sea views made it worthwhile. Collioure town still very attractive too. Restaurant menu very short, nothing appealed so didn\'t use it.
What a great find! Spacious pitch with sea view. Site pretty busy but quiet. Plenty of loos, showers etc and all very clean and well maintained. Access to a couple of small coves from the campsite via stairs. Collioure a 30 min walk/15 min cycle (hilly) in one direction and sandy beaches of le Racou and Argeles closer in other direction (and less hilly). Went on guided walk to Collioure with Bruno - all in French but understood most of it with basic school standard French. Excellent value for money with ACSI card.
No waste bins, recycling long long walk.pitches soft mud in rain, need hard standing to avoid stranding in rain.Inadequate lights in facilities.Stunning views but long leads needed for hook up.Overpriced compared to Spain a short drive away.
Disappointed with this site - was told it was full on arrival but then, as we had a small unit, was shown to a pitch that was difficult to access. Despite having a lovely sea view, we were surrounded by other pitches at every angle and unfortunately were kept awake way past midnight by inconsiderate neighbours.
At reception the next morning we were offered a different pitch but we decided to leave.
We were disappointed with site. We moved pitch so had mountain and sea views but neither of our pitches were particularly good. One was entirely concrete- but a picnic table was provided- and the other was so narrow and close to the road that we were unable to put the awning up. They also added night 'tax', which is more than anywhere else. Gripes asides, the facilities were spotless and the location excellent. Collioure is a must visit place with restaurants, shops and historic buildings. Campsite overpriced.
