Travelling party: Seniors

We returned to this site after a pleasant few days last year. It is a well kept site in a superb location, within easy walking distance of a pretty little seaside town and with a supermarket just outside the gates. However, the hot water situation lets it down with unreliable temperatures affecting showers, handbasins and washing up sinks. A shame as otherwise this site has much to recommend it.

I should have seen the warning signs when receptionist requested 2 nights payment up front not refundable if you left a day early. We were given 2 choices of pitch when it was clear that there were many more available. The showers were dark and dingy and the water was lukewarm. There was loud live music in the bar from the moment we arrived on Sunday at 2 pm through till 11pm. Most of the clientele in the bar were drunk. The nearest water point was surrounded by rocks making it difficult to access.

We cannot review the site as we left on checking in as did 2 other people in front. The manager was so rude the reception was chaotic, she was abrupt and would not let us stay for 1 night even thouugh the site was half empty and the receptionist had agreed. I would not recommend this site- seemed disorganised and unhelpful

This could be a brilliant site due to its location- short walk into town, supermarket and superb bakers near entrance and cycle paths nearby. However it is let down by a dire lack of water points, badly lit showers and washbasins, showers that are only just warm enough and a maintenance team that seem to mow/strim the same pitches over and over again in order to fill their day!

First time here and will return. Busy site on edge of nice little town with its own harbour. Shellfish lovers paradise! Supermarket and superb bakery just outside the main entrance plus a pie shop selling the local delicacy of spicy minced octopus pie if that’s your thing. Good mix of nationalities with plenty of French. Good sanitary facilities. BUT as others have mentioned the site really needs to improve the water supply situation.

A busy site just outside the town, 10 mins walk away. However Carrefour, a baker and restaurants just 5 mins from the entrance. Best restaurant in town is amongst these, le Barque Blue. Well worth a visit. Site suffers from a lack of water points so fill up before you move to a pitch! Some road noise from the main road at the entrance. The town is a working town and is a pleasant change from the tourist towns up and down this coast. Good swimming pool and very deep at one end. Laborious checking in and pitch finding process but done charmingly by the staff, of whom there are only ever one at a time. Queues can form but it works in the end. Don't forget the water!

The reception staff not particularly warm and welcoming. 2 pitches offered, one of which was totally unsuitable due to a low tree in the middle of it. The toilet block could have been cleaner, and the site flooded after a moderate rain shower. Expensive wi-if.

We have used this site for a number of years, so I was glad to see it in the ACSI book this year. This is a friendly and informal site, about 50/50 static cabins and touring pitches. Pitch sizes vary; many are rather tight for average caravans. There's a mixture of open and shady sites.
There are two toilet blocks, one quite new, with good showers, seatless toilets, and wash cubicles. There is a motor home tap and drain outside, and a doggy wash. Also in the same block is a laundry and gym area. The other, near the playground and volleyball court, was older and needed updating. Both were cleaned regularly, by staff who whizz around on golf carts. The small bar, busy with entertainment in high season (some rather camp), serves bread in the morning, and has a TV, and beer and coffee, snacks and ices. The raised pool area is good for a cool down, and there's a paddling pool for the tinies.
Where this site really scores is its proximity to the friendly and quaint little town. There's a pie shop just outside, a supermarket across the way, and a line of shops including bakery, seafood stalls and pizza joints. Further in, there are a range of restaurants ranging from plain bars to quite sophisticated. The town beach is about a half mile walk, just near the harbour used by yachts. Here's a place to take in the local oysters washed down with the local wine in unpretentious surroundings.
