Price in high season rather steep for the available facilities. The chemical waste disposal point in a class of its own! We stayed overnight in Bastille celebrations week and were fortunate to watch a fantastic firework display over the town. Lovely walking and bike trails which we would happily explore if we were there longer but not in main season due to the cost of this site. During wet times the pitches would be impossible to manoeuvre on.

Nice site very close to the Loire and within easy walking distance of Briare and its aquaduct. A lovely area to walk in. Plenty of room on the site and good size plots. Good wifi reception outside the reception. As there is no pool or other facilities the price is quite a high price but would still stop for a night or two on the way home in future.

First the good points. Briare is a very pleasant town well worth a visit and enough to occupy a couple of days. The young man on reception was always pleasant and helpful with good English.
Otherwise, there is little that was good about this site on our visit in mid June for 2 nights. The grass was long and didn't appear to have been cut this year, the hedges between pitches were the same. We do not believe the toilets or showers were cleaned whilst we were there. They were dated and unkempt. Not one of the individual washing cubicle lights worked.
The whole site had a general uncared for look. One of the worst points was the toilet emptying point. There were 2 holes in the ground. One, which did drain and another which didn't. Some people had emptied their toilet into the non draining one. This was like an open sewer. All it would need was a notice informing which hole to empty the toilet down. The water points were all down the road side of the site. If you were on the other side of the site you would have a long way to go to get it.
It is shown as a 3* site. Very poor value and very over rated. There is no pool, bar or restaurant. The only service is bread ordered for the morning. There did not appear to be good security. The barrier at the entrance lifted on entrance and exit at all times of day with no code required.
There are 2 Aires in the town, one next to this site. I would not visit this site again and if in Briare would use one of the Aires.

This is a lovely situated site in a fantastic area. Much better than Gien just up the road! But there is a "but" coming and it is a rather big one..... BUT ... le Maritinet is in desperate need of some TLC. We stayed for 3 nights in June 2016. The grass had not been cut so "wet feet" in the morning. Indeed, whilst I hesitate to be negative, no electricity points that worked in the Sanitaire, and a general ambience of "take it or leave it". With new owners in charge, this site could thrive and it is such a pity that things had fallen into neglect. eg: I don't expect to have to use a screwdriver to scrape muck out of an electrical connection point before I can connect my supply. Wifi at the reception is free and fast. Would I come again? Yes, but for an overnight stay only. If the owners got their act together, then you could easily spend a week walking and cycling around Briar . It really is a lovely spot.

This was an impulse stop on our behalf but we were very pleased we did. Le Martinet is a spacious if basic site a very pleasant 10 minute walk along La Loire to the extremely interesting town of Briare le Canal with its network of bridges and canals. Good sized pitches. Very good dog walking directly from the site by the river or by the canals. We could have done with some more water taps, but it wasn't really a problem. We did feel the site was overpriced at €16 a night as it was basic, i.e. no toilet seats, loo paper, sports facilities certainly when we were there. But Briare is certainly worth a visit.

Came for a couple of early-season nights and stayed for six. Well worth the diversion from the main road along the quay and over the little canal bridge to stay at this site nestling between the Loire and the Briare Canal.
A spacious site with a wide choice of different emplacements with most differentiated by low hedging. The central sanitary block is well cared for and the showers, whilst not adjustable, are effective and constant in temperature. Water taps are adjacent to many pitches and electric bollards are well placed. Effective motorhome service point but still bemused by the general chemical toilet disposal facility.
A pleasant short walk into town with a number of restaurants, bars, basic shops and lots to see around the quaysides. Two supermarkets within easy reach and a large one at Gien only 6km away.
Supervision during our stay was low key but aware. Some evidence on pitches and site roads that in wet weather it had been difficult for heavy units but it was dry during our early May stay.
