"Well maintained campsite very close to Chenonceaux Castle. Site located on the banks of the River Cher. Good amenities and good leisure opportunities in and around the grounds."
Travelling party: Couple
So this site has had new owners recently and this will be their first big season - they are ill-prepared for it and it all just feels a little neglected. Overgrown grass, last years prices on entry, shocking piles of glass and rubbish in the waste area, a virtually empty bar with the worst inflated prices we experienced all trip, a previously busy bustling restaurant reduced to a ghost area, and a general feeling that the “hosts” were doing their customers a favour by even being present.
Travelling party: Couple
Very disappointed to arrive and discover that neither pool or restaurant were open. While it is common for some facilities not to be available in early season, there was no mention on this or their own website of the opening date, leading us to think they were available. Drinks at the bar were also expensive compared to other sites in the region.
That said, the site is beautiful, on the banks of the Cher. Very green with shady spots available. Helpful, friendly staff.

I stayed in September. the place was surprisingly busy and with a lot of english people too. nice sized pitches, level and on the bank of the river. advised not to let the dogs go into the river due to the presence of cynobacteria which is a problem in the rivers at this time of year (no fault of the campsite). lovely walks along the river. Chenonceau is very close, either walk (30 min) or very easy cycle, and very worth the visit. Blere is a little town about 30min cycle ride away.
lots of hot-air balloons in the area with several takeoff and landing sites nearby, with the aim being to fly over Chenonceau
i personally wouldn't recommend the restaurant unless you are really stuck. the food is basic - pizza/pasta/burger fair - but it is busy, the staff are friendly enough and it's good for an evening's relax.
there is a pool on site and it was open, but I didn't get chance to use it.

We have been staying on this site for many years on and off, and this year we arrived to new management who I believe only took over in April. The site is very inviting as just a site. Relaxing and plenty to do in the area. Good cycling and plenty of stops on the river Cher.
I agree with all the reviews and comments made.
At the moment the new owners are still finding their feet and there is limited food in the restaurant.
Always our favourite site for a longer stay.

Nice location with carrefore extra, butchers and bakers close by. Various pitch sizes, some shaded, especially by the river. Bar and restaurant quite nice but often busy with people not staying in the site. Some staff spoke good English and some enough for us to get by with my schoolgirl French but that is our problem not theirs. Facilities clean but not all open. Pet gripe, toilet paper provided at one dispenser only, as you enter the building, felt this was a bit unreasonable in this day and age. Access to the river at the far end of the site down a steep piece of bank. Shame nowhere seems to make the most of the rivers with decking out over the water or steps to allow access with a cafe/ bar. Chateau de Chenoneax within walking distance approximately 25 mins..
Travelling party: Couple
Great site with a pool, lovely walks, and good cycling routes nearby. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but it look very good & was very popular with other campers & locals. Great staff

We stayed 5 nights. There is a lovely cycle path along the river from near the site to Blere which is about a half hour cycle to supermarkets. On the banks of the river Cher which offers boat hire, kayaking etc but these were closed in September. Chateau Chenonceaux is a 10 min cycle ride and worth visiting. Several other chateaux nearby but possibly more driveable than cyclable (50 mins - 1 hr + on a bike). The toilets and showers were dirty. More a fault of the users than the site but we decided to use our van instead. The site has lovely fresh bread every morning and the restaurant was a godsend. Not gourmet food but reasonably priced, good service and a nice ambience. Avoid ordering red wine unless you want it chilled though!! They keep it in the fridge
Travelling party: Seniors
A wonderful warm welcome from the reception and clear instructions where to go. Close the the chateau at Chenonceaux an easy bike ride away. We enjoyed fresh bread and croissants in the morning and local ice cream mid afternoon!
My only complaint was the swimming pool - the stairs are so difficult to use as an older visitor and keen swimmer - I struggled to get out of the pool!

Lovely camping site, friendly reception
The sanitary facilities are a bit tatty, but clean except the chemical WC disposal point which was disgusting as it was on another occasion we stayed.
Beautiful location. Balloons taking off in morning just across the river an amazing sight.
Nice bar and restaurant.
Travelling party: Couple
Great site with river access. Ablution block was clean, water was hot. Site hasn’t been mowed in a while. Staff were friendly and helpful
