puts a whole new meaning on the word average.while in the south someone said stop here on way north ..so we did .. beautiful town with citadel..on Sunday a big brick a brack market in the Town so was worth the 2 day stop over. only 2 toilet blocks open which had 3 showers and 2 toilets ..this was enough as most of the site has been turned into a glamping pod/chalet site for seasonal use. not many touring pitches to be found. showers were a bit hit and miss one second hot next cold..wait for a few more pushes on button give up and shower in caravan. didn\'t use pool but looked OK.

Some say you should never go back…….
However, sometimes you’re pleased you did, and sometimes you wish you hadn’t!
This experience belongs in the second category.
In 45 years of caravanning in France this is only the second time I have felt disposed to declare my disappointment in writing. I hope that indicates the seriousness of my comments.
When I telephoned to reserve a pitch at la Citadelle Loches, my inquiry was greeted with warmth. Sadly, when we arrived that person was not on duty and the reception we received from the two people on duty was cool.

We first stayed at Camping la Citadelle in 1998. We stayed again in 2002. Because we had fond memories of our previous visits, we thought it would be nice to go back again. It wasn’t.
Having set up the caravan we decided to walk around and see how it had changed. Well, the word that sums up the overall impression is – scruffy.
Doors to the facilities propped open with broken pieces of paving slab.
No hooks for clothes/towels near men’s basins.
One of the washing -up basins had no waste pipe attached - so if you used that basin you soon discovered your feet were getting wet – this happened to me!
Waste bin area was untidy and some bins overflowing. The entrance to this area is uneven and very stony, and hazardous to anyone who has difficulty walking.
The hot water in the showers isn’t – in fact It is worse than that because approximately 3 minutes after stepping under a warm shower it was running cold. And despite waiting several minutes it continued cold.
The temperature of the water in the washing-up sinks appears to be a matter of luck. Sometime it was hot, sometimes cold - and you cannot wash a greasy pan with cold water.
Several pitches were just caked mud. Several pitches had no electric point, but we were not warned of this when booking-in. On further inspection it became obvious that these pitches are destined to be replaced with cabins and chalets etc.
That is business, but in the meantime large areas are akin to a building site. What makes this worse is it seems very haphazard.

Many of these problems have been encountered by all of us from time to time - but not all at once, at the same site.
We were using our ACSI discount card. I feel for people paying the full fare.
I am not saying “don’t go to this site”, because the town is well worth visiting.
But if you do visit you have prior knowledge of the problems we faced. Perhaps the owners will read this and address some of the issues. I do hope so.

One night stopover, never again. The reception area was excellent, that’s where it stopped. the sanitation areas were dirty. The area around the rubbish bins left a lot to be desired. overpriced for a one night stay.

Visited in August 2020. Location is great but don’t follow you sat nav as it will try and take to you through the town; follow the by-pass to the south of the town and then the sat nav should be fine. The location is great for visiting the various Chateau in the Loire Valley including a model village which has every chateau in miniature. You can walk into the local town which has a great market day with everything you could want from fruit & veg to clothing and bric-à-brac. Lots of great cafes and restaurants. The facilities on site are very nice as are the staff. Food at the restaurant is typical campsite fare and well priced and prepared. They had entertainment a couple of evenings as well as special events such as wine tasting from a local vineyard. All in all a great site and we’re sure to visit again.

Visited at the end of September and felt that everything was closed around us, restaurant, two of the three sanitary facilities closed but pool open but Weather not conducive to using it. Felt that the sanitary facilities were in need of deep clean, not helped by dirty footprints, leaves etc from the weather.
Easy walk ( off road path from the gate) into lovely Loches, well worth visiting. The market is amazing, spreading through the narrow medieval streets.
We were offered larger comfort pitches at extra cost when we arrived but we declined and looked around at the others, which we thought were mainly of a fairly generous size and water closeby, long electricity leads may be needed if the site were busy.

A lovely site which we have visited before. A nice view of the castle.

This is a great site, either for a stopover or longer stay. Its location is ideal whether in a caravan or motorhome as it\'s only a few minutes walk into the lovely town with its chateau, cobbled streets and lovely shops and a large supermarket only 1km.
The site itself has large pitches, many shaded, spotlessly clean showers & toilets and a nice pool.
Plenty to see in the local area and a visit to Chateau De Chenoneau (about 30km) a must.
Note that the reception is closed daily from 12.15 - 14.15 but if arriving during that time there is plenty of parking outside the entrance.

We stayed for 2 nights on our way south. The site is ideally located for visiting Loches being only a short walk away. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The pool and surroundings looked good although we did not use. Would recommend approaching the site from the south as the road through the town is alternate single lane and busy.

Lovely site, well maintained with green borders and large pitches. Indoor swimming pool was great for time of year. A pain however that WiFi was charged and expensive. A 10min walk into town which is easy. Would happily stay here again. No kids with us and didn’t see any around as it was early May.

First time visit ... this campsite is closed from 12 noon till 2.15 pm with the barrier down... why oh why do some sites insist on keeping you waiting until they reopen rather than leave the barrier up, choose your pitch and we will book you in after we reopen...
we chose a larger pitch that i found was an extra 3€ per night, couldnt be bothered to argue after waiting two hours to get in so just paid up.
nice town within easy walking distance that has fairly large markets on Saturday and Wednesdays
Great pool complex, toilets and showers in need of refurb but clean and plently of hot water.
Would i visit again... yes if i timed my arrival for when they are open
