A very pleasant campsite 10 minutes walk from a fascinating walled town with good restaurants, shops and a Saturday market.
This is a very pleasant campsite within 10 minutes walk of the extremely medieval town of Loches which is definitely worth a visit (excellent market on Saturdays). There is a small supermarket in the town and bigger shops about 20 minutes walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful and generally spoke good English. We found the site to be clean and well maintained when we were there. The pool was fine, if a bit chilly, and we both swam in it. Lots of dog walking in lovely countryside directly from the site and it has a special 'doggie area' too. Pitches are a good sized and level. We thought internet was expensive and so didn't bother with it while we were there.
We have been a few times and like the site especially as you can walk along the river into Loches through the park - very good position
Stayed here at end of August and things were shutting - bar was running out of drink and restaurant had very limited food - just what was left. However superb position near to town and easy to walk to (10 minutes). Town is lovely with many restaurants and good to walk around with good market twice a week. The main plus of this campsite is its position. A lot of English on site and many permanent locations. Pool was good but pleased that we were there out of season. However, I would think it was good for children in the high season.
Camping Citadel is a beautiful site in full view of the citadel and we booked in for three days. We decide to go for their new “Gold” pitch. So for this cost we got a large pitch with views of the citadel, a cabin with sink & drainer and electricity, a large picnic table & chairs, two sun loungers, full size parasol, barbecue, water, electricity, waste water drain and free Wi-Fi. We thought the offers was good deal and we intended to enjoy it. We set off to explore the town of Loches and in particular, the citadel. The original fortress dates from the 6th Century and the Keep was taken in a couple of hours after a single attack by Richard the Lion-Heart in 1194. It is also mentioned in the 100 years war with England. A fascinating walled city and we spent several hours exploring the narrow alleyways and shops. We would certainly stay at this site again.
We stayed on the campsite over the Easter weekend 2017 in our campervan. The reception staff spoke good English and were very helpful. The standard pitches were all very big and water points weren't too far away. The shower and toilet block was clean and had plenty of hot water. It was a gorgeous walk along by the river into Loches itself. A town not to be missed. We
cycled each day from the campsite along the 'Velo' route, along quiet roads. We would certainly recommend this site and will definitely return. The restaurant wasn't open but bread could be ordered at the reception for breakfast.
It's an easy traffic-free walk into the town, which is well worth a visit. There are also meadows near the site which are great for letting the dog have a run. Lovely grassy pitches even at the end of the season. The main gripe is that the guy on reception did a really hard sell on 'grand confort' pitches which cost more. He actually said that the standard pitches did not include electricity even with a camping card. The standard pitches seemed fine, so it felt like a rip-off being coerced into an upgrade.
a lovely campsite. particularly good toilets and showers. a good swimming area with 2 pools. the walk into town is easy. the public gardens in town are exceptional. it is a very interesting town with a great market on Saturday.
This is a great site, either for a stopover or longer stay. Its location is ideal whether in a caravan or motorhome as it\'s only a few minutes walk into the lovely town with its chateau, cobbled streets and lovely shops and a large supermarket only 1km.
The site itself has large pitches, many shaded, spotlessly clean showers & toilets and a nice pool.
Plenty to see in the local area and a visit to Chateau De Chenoneau (about 30km) a must.
Note that the reception is closed daily from 12.15 - 14.15 but if arriving during that time there is plenty of parking outside the entrance.
First time visit ... this campsite is closed from 12 noon till 2.15 pm with the barrier down... why oh why do some sites insist on keeping you waiting until they reopen rather than leave the barrier up, choose your pitch and we will book you in after we reopen...
we chose a larger pitch that i found was an extra 3€ per night, couldnt be bothered to argue after waiting two hours to get in so just paid up.
nice town within easy walking distance that has fairly large markets on Saturday and Wednesdays
Great pool complex, toilets and showers in need of refurb but clean and plently of hot water.
Would i visit again... yes if i timed my arrival for when they are open
