We only intended to stay on this site for one night but ended up staying longer. The site is excellent well run and the staff very helpful . There is a very pleasant walk into the town which is a place of historic interest as well as being very picturesque with some good restaurants . Wished we could have stayed longer would definitely recommend .
We have stayed here a few times and it is a lovely site, just a short walk along the river to the park and into town
The site is very clean as are the sanitary facilities which have piped music!
Will definitely go again
This is a very pleasant campsite within 10 minutes walk of the extremely medieval town of Loches which is definitely worth a visit (excellent market on Saturdays). There is a small supermarket in the town and bigger shops about 20 minutes walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful and generally spoke good English. We found the site to be clean and well maintained when we were there. The pool was fine, if a bit chilly, and we both swam in it. Lots of dog walking in lovely countryside directly from the site and it has a special 'doggie area' too. Pitches are a good sized and level. We thought internet was expensive and so didn't bother with it while we were there.
We have been a few times and like the site especially as you can walk along the river into Loches through the park - very good position
Camping Citadel is a beautiful site in full view of the citadel and we booked in for three days. We decide to go for their new “Gold” pitch. So for this cost we got a large pitch with views of the citadel, a cabin with sink & drainer and electricity, a large picnic table & chairs, two sun loungers, full size parasol, barbecue, water, electricity, waste water drain and free Wi-Fi. We thought the offers was good deal and we intended to enjoy it. We set off to explore the town of Loches and in particular, the citadel. The original fortress dates from the 6th Century and the Keep was taken in a couple of hours after a single attack by Richard the Lion-Heart in 1194. It is also mentioned in the 100 years war with England. A fascinating walled city and we spent several hours exploring the narrow alleyways and shops. We would certainly stay at this site again.
A well situated, pleasant site with good sized pitches. Staff at reception very pleasant. A big plus is the facility to walk into the centre of Loches, which is worth a visit.
Grass pitches good even in rain. Sanitaires were clean, but toilets a little open air. Noisy teenager groups around play area until after 10 pm, but area can be avoided as site quite big. Loches easy walking distance and well worth a visit.
Nice pitch but expensive for what it was. Too many extras above and beyond the ACSI guide. Bread was dry, toilet block and showers smelly and luke warm water. Would not stay again and found Loche to be somewhat run down shame as we were recommended this site on good authority.
Have now used twice and will return again. The walk around the old town is fantastic and just a short walk from site.
Stayed at this site for 3 nights. It was the last week before the site closed for the season. Was very quiet while we were there. Only 5 minutes walk into Loches which is very quaint. Lovely market on a Sat and Weds. Some nice places to eat as well.
Reception was friendly but must say they have Dogs staying/sleeping by the reception and you can smell them as soon as you enter.
Shower block and showers were clean. The one day we lay in the sun by the pool we were the only ones there. Pitches were large although we paid extra to set up on the larger pitches. Would stay again.
