Having read some of the negativity I was apprehensive about staying but needn't have worried. No sign of travellers but it is a very busy site with rapid turnover. Sanitary block was clean but very tired looking so could do with an upgrade! The walk into Chartres is lovely along the riverbank but quite a long way there and back for ageing hips! A once or twice a day bus service if it was provided would be a winner.
Ideal place to stay for one or two nights to see the sights but not for longer stay as it is too busy.

Excellent site for a stopover in July. Easily findable by satnav from the route through Rouen. Lots of pitches, partially shaded. Didn't use the facilities, so can't comment. Had difficulty finding a tap (in the washing machine room) & waste bins.

Perfect location close to Chartres, a decent walk into the city along the riverbank. ACSI book states Wifi 80-100% but actually only at Reception; not a problem but misleading. Nice peaceful site.

Also had been put off visiting this campsite by the reviews but it was fine for an overnight stop on our way home however could imagine what it would be like had the weather been wet, think the pitches would be bad. Facilities weren't too bad either although my shower was a bit lukewarm but again, the weather was warm so not too bad. Lovely walk into Chartres through a park and along the river, lovely for the dog. Well worth the visit and plan to stop again to see Chartres by night....the walk back would be lit.

Ideally located for walk along the river to Chartres about 25mins. Staff helpful but not that knowledgeable. They thought the Son Et Lumiere finished on 7 Oct but it was on until 12th. A must see absolutely amazing. Facilities poor on campsite. Very dated but clean. Still have several squat toilets and no toilet paper or towels. Pitches largely under trees and quite wet so caution when choosing. PS make sure you take a torch. Last part of the walk home at night unlit.

Excellent site for visiting Chartres (an easy walk away), a pleasant and interesting place. Looks like a new toilet block, clean and pleasant with the exception of the French-style toilets, which don't please the British! Some of the pitches a bit bare after dry summer, but plenty of grassy ones . Most of the site is under large trees which was an advantage in the hot weather we encountered. Definitely recommend.

Convenient overnight stop and ideal for visiting Chartres however the toilet facilities are dreadful. Be aware. No paper and one continental style and 2 footprint type.Very poor.

This campsite is perfectly situated a 25 minutes walk away from Chartres with its wonderful Cathedral. The site itself is fine but our experience was marred by the rather rude and unwelcoming behaviour of the woman at reception. Also at 5.30am on a Sunday morning when it was still dark everyone was disturbed by scores of people arriving in their cars and setting up a boot sale right in the middle of the site about 20 feet away from us. It was incredible! Not exactly what you need on a restful holiday! To cap it all when we went to collect our bread and croissant order at 8.15 the same woman at reception said she had sold them to the boot sale people - no apology. We would not return.

This was the perfect place for us to make a stopover. An easy walk into Chartres along the river bank, about 25 mins. A warm welcome and we were able to pay by card or cash. Generous pitches but they could be very muddy in poor weather. Facilities are clean and just &adequate but would be under pressure if site was busy. The cost reflects the position rather than the facilities. 6 amp electricity. Reception open from 8 am until 10 pm but is closed 12.30 until 2pm. Plenty of space to park whilst you wait.

Overnight stop to visit Chartres. Site a pleasant 20-25 minute walk alongside picturesque riverbank. Cathedral & old part of city very interesting (pathway very dark on return later in evening!) pitch size adequate although had to move as first choice electric point not working! Toilet/shower block ok hot water (take paper) chemical toilet cleaning area very easy to get to. Reception staff spoke English & gave us instructions on getting into city. Didn’t use shop etc. So no comments on other facilities. All in all a pleasant site to use for visiting Chartres & area. Thanks
