Lovely overnight campsite in the centre of the town with plenty of trees and greenery all around. Lovely footpath from campsite through the park to the cathedral. River flows past the campsite. Refurbished playground for the children.

Ideally located for walk along the river to Chartres about 25mins. Staff helpful but not that knowledgeable. They thought the Son Et Lumiere finished on 7 Oct but it was on until 12th. A must see absolutely amazing. Facilities poor on campsite. Very dated but clean. Still have several squat toilets and no toilet paper or towels. Pitches largely under trees and quite wet so caution when choosing. PS make sure you take a torch. Last part of the walk home at night unlit.
Used as a stop over returning to the ferry. I have to agree with all the critical posts regarding facilities and pitches. Strangely this camp site had an air of gloom with campers not there usual communicative selves. Could be the outdated shower and toilet facilities coupled with a lack of any signed water points contributed to this. On a positive note good access to Chartres and the cathedral. Also close enough to La Maisonette Picassiette, a house decorated with mosaics of broken China and pottery. Would only recommend the site on the basis of having no where else to go.
Ideally placed as a one night stopover. Easy access for all sized units. Reception closed 12 - 2. Descent sized pitches although very dusty - in the wet would be ideal for a very dirty weekend! Toilet / shower block clearly well overdue for demolition. Didn\'t risk trying the showers, but in fairness there was hot water coming out of the taps! would I use again? Yes probably as a stopover, but it wouldn\'t be my first choice! Snack bar was closed!
Needs a bit of TLC as there is no temperature on the showers and no toilet paper. Location is good for visiting Chartres.
Overall, a poor campground, compared to others recommended (and inspected) by ACSI. The facilities are antiquated, only a few of the sites have power. The relatively high cost is not justified in my view. Staff are friendly, no problem there.
Unfortunately, there does not seem to be an alternative if one wants to visit this interesting city.
Very tired old campsite. Soggy under foot but plenty of shade. No fresh water at MH services as tap usable for cassette emptying. Needs a refurbishment.
Not a site I would recommend other than for an overnight transit stop.
On arrival,we were told to pitch where you want. All well and good but, at 6pm, the site was pretty much full up. The pitches are not marked so it’s a bit of a free for all. The vast majority of pitches are under substantial tree cover so pretty dark. There is an “area”:that’s grass and open to the sky BUT there is a bit of a drainage issue, so the ground is very soggy. Most M
H’s has parked with front wheels still on the “narrow” roadway which makes access for others “interesting”
The toilet block is a bit dated but, to be fair, the showers were lovely and hot. An interesting game is “hunt the fresh water tap” it appears there is just the one, so if you have a MH you will need your own hose (plus fitting) or a watering can.
Clearly this site relies on its location to draw people to it and does nothing to enhance it.
Like I said, OK for a transit stop but don’t get excited about your stay! not a site I would choose as a base and does not really come up to the standard of many other ACSI sites.
Cold showers some not functioning. Very muddy pitches in wet conditions. If it were not in Chartres I doubt it would be so popular. Very disappointing. No local information offered on arrival except by extraction! Fee nearer 20 Euros than 18.
This was the perfect place for us to make a stopover. An easy walk into Chartres along the river bank, about 25 mins. A warm welcome and we were able to pay by card or cash. Generous pitches but they could be very muddy in poor weather. Facilities are clean and just &adequate but would be under pressure if site was busy. The cost reflects the position rather than the facilities. 6 amp electricity. Reception open from 8 am until 10 pm but is closed 12.30 until 2pm. Plenty of space to park whilst you wait.
Third overnight stop in 6 years on a site that is convenient on a journey, but hasn\'t improved much. We haven\'t found nearby alternatives. They now take plastic and seem more customer friendly but the pitches are rough and uncared for, full of twigs and small branches and last year\'s leaves. We had difficulty finding a level one without ruts. Being a municipal maybe this is the local authority\'s responsibility, but they should be ashamed. Just a few toilets, need renovating and one lady\'s WC was leaking onto the floor. One squatter if that\'s your thing. The walk to the city is pleasant - 30 plus minutes. It\'s uphill to the Cathedral so not just an easy stroll if you\'re an unsteady senior. Our satnav wanted to take a long route to the site from the Rocade ring-road so beware. Also ensure that you know which direction/ town you are heading for when leaving and going out via the Rocade.
