Brilliant site, the manager was so helpful and made all the arrangements for our dog at the vets. She is very helpful and in control. We didn’t use the bar and food as closed due to time of year (September) but it looked good. Location is great only minutes from front with all the bars and restaurants plus a lovely beach. Well done.
The campsite is situated at the back of the village between the church and the cemetery. It is quiet when the the church bells are not ringing the hour or half hour. The site layout for camping cars is poor. The roads around the pitches are very narrow and the hedges between pitches extend too close to the road making manouvering unnecessarily difficult. The road itself is of a poor specification and marks easily in hot weather.
The site facilities in general are fine and there are some facilities for children which is as well since the local beach is basically mud flats.
The sea retreats out of sight at low tide and when it returns it whips up the mud turning the water into a really filthy mess. I would not let youngsters play on this beach.
The seafront grocery shop is well stocked and the local restaurant I tried was very good and moderately priced.
If the campsite was located in a better position with the layout shortcomings addressed, I may have been tempted to return to use it as a base for touring. I have however crossed this one off the list.
Disappointing and unpleasant experience. We arrived during the 2 hour lunch break and were prepared to wait as we were told to. A man then came along and asked our name and, as we had made a reservation, took us to the only pitch available for our 7.9 metre motorhome. It was next to a stream. There had been 15 days of rain - obviously no-one's fault - but we immediately sank into the pitch and our tyre tracks filled with water. We couldn't get level as we had sunk into the wet ground. We had to leave and had to be towed off the pitch. We had previously paid deposit (we were told when we booked that we couldn't have the ACSI rate until they had seen our membership card). The couple (managers? owners?) refused to refund even though we could not stay on the site. We felt that theyWendy were very argumentative and aggressive. Obviously we could not recommend the site. We had to review 5 items but clearly did not use the pool, although I saw it and did not like the look of it.
Stayed on this site for a week. The young lady who runs the site is very friendly and helpfull, the pitches are lovely. You have a good choice between shade and sunny. New toilet facility is excellent; showers are very good if a little dated the site in general is well maintained and the staff are all very good. Its a short walk into St-Benoit which has a limited selection of bars/restaurants, but its only a short drive to St Malo which is a lovely place. We are a party of two seniors touring with a caravan.
We stayed for 5 nights. The weather was mixed, but O.K. for late May. A relaxed entry, allowing us to walk around and choose a pitch, before opening the gate at 2pm. Passable English spoken. Able to walk into the small town on the sea front. Off the main road, so very quiet. Small but very adaquate indoor warmed swimming pool. The town contains a bar, restaurant, spar, boulangerie and moules shops. Easy drive to Mont St Michel, Cancale and St Malo - all worthy of a visit. This campsite is ideally suited for these touristy locations. Recommended.
