A truly picturesque place, the site of a former water mill, with a diverse range of trees and shrubs. Very peaceful albeit close to the D11. A nice bar and restaurant, the speciality being trout from the lake that used to serve the mill. The sanitaires are perfectly acceptable, albeit not totally modern. Wish we could have stayed longer than four days. Some campers we spoke to come every year, some for several weeks. Highly recommended.
Stayed here for 1 night on our way south just off the motorway nice quiet site, friendly owners and good sized pitches nice area but we had to move on would return here again.
Only down side shower block a bit dated but clean and hot shower.
We have stayed on this site now for several years. The location and surroundings are lovely if you want a quiet country site. We love the swimming pool. It is limited in its appeal to families as children's entertainment is minimal. The restaurant is appreciated by most visitors. We like the fresh trout from their own stock. Toilet block a bit dated but kept clean. Good hot water for washing up etc. Winter storage available at very reasonable rate.
as very well run camp site we stay here every year on our journey home and always stay longer that we planned; the food is very good and excellent value for money the reception is good and you are really made welcome the site itself is well maintained and if the weather is bad any pitch that could be a problem is not used heated outdoor swimming pool the facilities are adequate with plenty of hot water I for one think it ios value for money
We stayed at the site for one night while on route, while the owner was nice and the onsite wardens very helpful the site itself was OK. ACSI card members have a choice of a few pitches which look like they could be a problem in the rain with getting stuck on a mixture of grass and sand, while the toliet block and facilties are adequate, they are no where near to what is expected at the high end of ACSI price. I would expect to pay less for the site. We can't comment on any other facilties as we went just before the closing date knowing that the bar, resturant and pool would be closed.
Stayed for one night and was given a limited choice of pitches. It is in a river valley and feels well shaded. Full of English caravans, which gave it a strange feel. Staff were friendly and helpful. However the wash blocks were old, with an odd shower arrangement.
Nothing wrong with the site - but it wasn't really for us.
If you're in the area then definitely make this a place to stay. The welcome we received could not have been warmer, the facilities are excellent and the surroundings both peaceful and wonderful.
